Just can't see searching for LegalMusic on a cell phone and downloading would perhaps take forever for one song. It's not like a ring tone.
Seems to me that most people would search for such a term on their PC or laptop, download it to their computer, then to the phone. Mine uses a very tiny memory card (don't know what it is called and have never used it) to make it capable of downloading music and then I could use my phone as an MP3 player.
I have never used this capabilty. I wonder about the battery life of continuous play.
The same goes for my PDA. Both a PDA and a cellphone have limited storage capabilities. If I want music on my PDA I download it to an SD card or internal memory using the docking station. Again, all done on the PC or laptop.
No doubt this is a highly searched term. No question about that. I just question the application to the .mobi extension. The market for cell phones and portable devices is saturated with downloadable ringtones, some of which are actual songs. The competition for this and the market saturation is extensive.
LegalMusic.mobi would take a great deal of marketing and promoting to get it into mainstream mobi. LegalMusic.com, .net, .info etc is perhaps more applicable than a .mobi.
Even if you were to find it on your .mobi, then what? Go home and download it?
Sure its a brandable term...the numbers speak for themselve. Whether legal or illegal. But the usage and search for this on a mobile device?
Sorry, this is not an anti .mobi rant. It is just me trying to rationalize 1.) does the domain fit the extension and 2.) would it be a highly searched term on a mobile device? My inner self says no to both of those points. That is how I do my evaluation of .mobi and it's purpose of being to begin with...what is and will .mobi be used for?
