I am writing to express my surprise regarding a domain name I have been monitoring on Hugedomains.com. According to the Whois records, the domain name in question expired on May 28, 2024, and all stages of the expiration process have been completed. However, the domain name still shows the previous owner's information, and the status is listed as "clientTransferProhibited."

Based on my understanding, once a domain name has expired and gone through all the stages of the expiration process, it should be in the "PendingDelete" status, ready for deletion and release back to the public for registration. Yet, in this case, the domain name remains in the previous owner's possession, despite the expiration and completion of the expiration process.
Thanks.
I am curious if this is legal or not. Is it permissible for the previous owner to continue holding onto the domain name after the expiration process has been completed? Or should the domain name be made available for public registration, as it should be in the "PendingDelete" status?
I would greatly appreciate any insights or clarification on this matter. Thank you for your time and attention to this legal question.
