I am fixing to purchase, either a 61 inch, or a 65 inch Television, The question is which one? After doing a lot of research, I read a lot of negative coments about the DLP unit, The bulb life seems to not last so long, And that is in virtually all brands of the units, The LCD has good reviews, One even stating that the life of the units are, 6 hours per day watching, The unit will last 16 years? I find that a bit exaggerated perhaps.

btw...The bulbs for the DLP units, Run between $150 and $300 a pop.

A year and a half ago, I purchased a View Sonic 27 inch LCD hdtv - Computer monitor, I mainly use as my computer monitor, But i have it hooked up to the cable tv, So i can flip on demand, from computer to television, as i want, I haven't had any problems with this unit. It shows an awesome HD picture, and is totally sick, when it comes to internet streaming video.

I am leaning towards towards a LCD unit, But they are much more expensive, DLP technology is fairly new, But has been around long enough, The low life bulb issues, Should be taken care of by now, The DLP units, Have alot of things going at one time inside them, A mirror motor that runs at 7200 RPM and the list goes on, I for see all these running objects, as repairs later the down the line, Perhaps i am wrong though, Maybe i am sinking my thoughts to deep, Into those reviews that have posted negative things, regarding the DLP units, And not looking at the positives?

as you said you love your LCD moniter but the DLP are cheaper?

Maybe if they still go through bulbs alot the LCD would be a better choice :tu: Saves money :tu:

I do like my monitor, But we are talking 61 to 65 inch television, And the price for the LCD, Is a few thousand dollars more, If it were not so much more, The decision would simple.

But as that old saying goes, "You get what you pay for" May be in order for this decision

I am looking at the "Sharp Aquos" "Samsung" and Sony, The Sharp Aquos seems to have the best picture, It also has the most options, The Samsung and Sony, Seem to be about equal, With the Sony costing a bit more, But it has a better warranty.

The Samsung is an awesome unit, What i found negative about it though, The exterior of the television is not built well, I have even seen some in the stores, with a slight bowing in them, The technology they use is perhaps second to none, But the shell of the television, just seems not to be built well.

I'm into new technology and a fair investment so I'd go for the LCD. Look on the bright side, if you regret your choice you can sell it and still go for the DLP. You won't be able to do it the other way round though.

I have heard good things about Vizio, that they are quality and cheap.

To my understanding DLP are generally deeper, and you will be unlikely to be able to get a flatscreen in that department. However, the picture will be almost as sharp and the price much cheaper if you go DLP. (i think)

100% DLP! We have two DPL Samsung's over 54in. The size of the beast is from the Flat Screen to the BACK part of the tv is no bigger than 13 inches. It weights about 30 LBS

Also we support TI technology :) If I were you I would go DLP but that is me hehe Good luck on your search and enjoy your new TV
