layaway in making a comeback do to the Credit Crisis.

Does anyone have any good layaway names?

I just reged Layaway.me

My first .me purchase

I didn't think I was going to buy any .me names but I figured I would pick up this on. Good to be diversified I guess.

If anyone here is around 30 or older they should know what layaway is. It is how parents used to live above their means before CC's were the trend.

Could be in Florida they have changed the name, in SoCal, there are a number of them. Some with the big orange ball, like they all had when we were kids.

I think the last time it was used, at least by me, was when I was about 10. That's a good 11 years ago

it's still used in some minor appliance center here if they want to secure and get back their appliance if you failed to pay.

Last time I used layaway was at Kmart about 20-22 years ago, grab all the stuff you wanted but couldn't afford as a kid, make your weekly or monthly payments don't remember and when the final payment was made they handed you your huge bag of goodies, good times. :hehe:

I used to offer layaway at my retail store. It's mainly requested by people with no credit or want to stay out of the credit system. They just come over when they can pay something till it's fully bought and then leave with it.

I think OP is right that if the current credit crunch continues and banks restrict lending this might gain more momentum. However not sure in domaining it will bear fruit.

I can't believe no one here knows what Layaway is.

There used to be huge signs in store windows promoting it , and that was just 15 years ago.

I agree. Come on, no one has ever been to Walmart? The layaway king!

I just saw a commercial on TV today for Layaway at Kmart...Two things I didn't even know existed anymore.

My local K-mart still has it and apparently it is still strong and well.

I'm 25 and remember layaway quite clearly. But I don;t see what point layaway.me would have.

when it's only $80, for example.

Start selling domains the lay-away way:

Sounds tricky but if you have the funds, reg it. You'll never know what the next trend in domain selling will be.

I remember when the Detroit area was melting down in the early 80's (as with the rest of the Country). I had my paper route and would start putting my families gifts on lay-away in the fall for Xmas (as 12 year old kids don't have much credit lol). I Have not heard of it since those times.

Also I don't really see how 'layaway' domains could be too effective on the net except for getting the word out about it at store level since its an 'in-store thing'.

I think "other" .me domains have sold pretty high and with Layaway coming back, it was worth the reg fee. At least it makes Sense!

Kmart is banking on it as I seen the ad this weekend as well.

I guess I was wrong. Walmart went in reverse. They quit layaway about 2 years ago, I recently found out.
