It used to be , back before every other letter you got in the mail was a credit card offer, you could go to a store find something you like and the store would put it aside for you while you made payments to them. Then when you paid the item off in full you could take it home.

I remember when I was growing up , not that long ago, layaway was very populare. Almost every store offered it.

Diversified is one thing - throwing money in the garbage is another.

I can't believe no one here knows what Layaway is.

There used to be huge signs in store windows promoting it , and that was just 15 years ago.

If anyone here is around 30 or older they should know what layaway is. It is how parents used to live above their means before CC's were the trend.

They converted the Layaway section of our local Wal-Mart store to restrooms/customer service.

It never seemed to work in today's "buy now, pay later" way of life. :imho:

Ok, i see now, in Aus it's called "laybuy", or the other term similar is a "rainckeck".

Anyway, it's the type of domain i think would sell OK on eBay, where they are starting a new buy now, pay later scheme.

Just what the world needs......more credit! LOL

Lay who?

Just kidding......I did not know it disappeared. I'm sure jewelers still use it....they must.

In many foreign countries they sell almost everything over $50 that way. You'll see infomercials for a juicer or a folding ladder payable in 10 payments......even when it's only $80, for example.

How about LayawayDomains.com (its free).

Start selling domains the lay-away way:

Always wanted to own Porn.com? Now you can!!!!!!!!!!!!! In 20,000 easy monthly payments of $10,000 .....it can be yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Layaway, I haven't heard this term in quite a few years. I remember this when gas prices were roughly $0.99 cents and 76 gas stations still existed. Not sure the extension actually fits the name but I have seen stranger things.

It's what my mom did every year at Christmas and the start of a new school year  And I remember the layaway lines at Hills department store being soooo longggg.

Kids have it easy these days, why when I was a kid, we had to wait in the layaway line for ONE HOUR!! :hehe:

I bought a Seiko watch on layaway at Service Merchandise when I was 17 years old ..... I think they went out of business. LOL

I hated the service b/c I had to kept going back to make payments which was a pain in ass.

Most people dislike payments...... maybe that is why it failed.
