same question as if .vg will be accepted as (Las) Vegas domain...

hard to say, if businesses adapt to the .la extension and see its potential value, it could take off and actually be worth the investment...
event though .la is more widely known than the .vg extension, i still believe the same rules apply. i'd invest in strong keywords, sit back, relax and wait...

There is a major difference between .vg as vagas names versus .la as las angeles names. That is the official registrar of .la names is promoting them as las angeles names. vg names are not promoted anywhere as las vegas tlds.

maybe i need to be a bit more precise. with ANY ccTLD it stands to question whether the extension will be accepted as anything else but the intended use.

no matter how much emphasis the registrant is putting on "re-coining" the extension to be something else, acceptance is always questionable.
Granted, .la would be an obvious Los Angeles choice but can also be anything in between Latin America, Latvia or the intended use of Lao, .vg can be Vegas, Video Games or anything else.... ok, enough about the possible uses, forth to the name regging; Personally, i believe that ANY good keyword is worth to be registered, no matter what domain extension. :imho:

The word "Official" I think is so much hype, as far as I know neither the county or the city of Los Angeles has taken any notice of the extension. If they did......

But I am dreaming there.

Be prepaired for a wait on ccTLD names, and the renewal fees do not wait. I have a few very nice .LA's. They worry me more than most of my other names. If the extension takes off they are worth $$$$$. As it is I just keep paying renewals. I wish Affilias, which is in charge of the extension, would put some effort into it, or lower the price (or both...).

Yeah. I have a few of them but will only keep two. I am dissapointed with how the .la extension is managed.

This pair got some decent offer together, so I assume there is some value with strong keywords .la at least, but won't expect much at present.

I took a shot at this one...The reasoning was there are 42 million spanish speaking folks in Los Angeles alone and then the Latin America marketing option as well...

NEGOCIO is BUSINESS in Spanish...so I am hoping this domain one day may be able to be developed and marketed as a Spanish Businesses Directory and Advertising Portal for Los Angeles and Latin America... Oh...I believe Louisiana too...
