What is your opinion about the TLD's: .LA and .AC

No experience with the .ac tld, but a thread on .la is running here: .LA

Name.com offers .la for $39.

.LA may or may not be a good idea. There is certainly more interest in it these days, but you can buy 4 or 5 .coms for the same cost, and end user prices for .coms are several orders of magnitude higher. Perhaps try a few .LAs if you do not mind the risk and the waiting, but put most of your money elsewhere.

.ac can mean academic however, I have seen a few examples flying around related to education etc.

For the most part though, the reg fee for it is too high. Go with .LA.

I agree, but the reason I bought some .LA names was because I couldn't buy Plaza.com at under $50. I know that end user price of Plaza.LA would be ridiculously low (nearly nothing) compared to that of Plaza.com. But, I thought that Plaza.LA would be better than 4 or 5 of MyLaPlaza.com, YourLaPlaza.com or something like that.

If you need a particular keyword for development, especially if it fits with LA, it could be a good idea.

BTW, somewhere it should be noted that .LA is really the country code extension of Laos, a medium size country in South East Asia, not some tiny island worried that global warming will raise sea level causing them to need a new home.

Earlier last year I thought that .LA was very very bad. I ended up registering two as a shot in the dark. I have changed my opinion though now. think that actually, of all the ccTLD's, this one is very recognizable. So if you get the right words it could work very well. I am really happy about owning bikinis and hotgirls. I have not purcahsed any more because I am focusing on other things, but I am happpy about my names and I think there are very good ones left to be registered. It will take off for sure. It will never come close to .com, net or even .tv, but it still has some good potential since LA is very commonly known abbriviation. It will have to be related to los angeles or laos however to be worth anything. Random keywords that make no sense are for sure not worth getting. Only register the best words for this extension.
