Which would your rather have?

Keyword + ccTLD or non-Keyword + .com

For example would you rather have:

jobs.fr or jobsearch.com?

soccer.ru or playsoccer.com?

shop.nl or shopster.com?

Keyword + CCTLD in most cases.

Depends on country code of course - population of country, language, internet penetration, internet growth, prosperity of country & most importantly strength of the cc-tld extension (is it dominant over .com locally).

Being from Australia I would take soccer.com.au or tennis.com.au over playsoccer.com, playtennis.com anyday.

Suspect most will disagree though....

Now we're entering that grey area. I personally don't know anything about .se so couldn't comment. Language definitely counts against going for the ccTLD. Not sure about how well used .se is in Sweden either.

The .com's... lower reg fee... people won't be confused. It looks better and finally... .ru are you serious?

Thought I would give this a bump and see if anyone else wanted to weigh in.

It depends on how the domain is going to be used. If the domain is an investment or for a web project, then I would find a .com, .net, .org, .info. .biz, or .us in that order. If I could not find anything there I might go with .ws, .cc, .cn, .bz, or .in. But I would probably try to find a .com varation before going to ccTLDs. It might be a 2, 3, or 4 word domain, and it might even have hyphens, but once you established your site, I think it's more important to have people not be confused by "non-standard" TLDs. This will get better as time goes on, but I think it's still a factor.

If the domain is purchased for parking, then the TLD is not a concern in my opinion. I can register a TLD and generate some income if the keyword is a good one.

I thought you are talking something like my Keyword.tv

Back to topic, I would prefer .com for a serious development and marketing. Or, if the targeting users/customers are mostly from the country of cctld, I would choose the keyword.cctld for sure.

non-Keyword + .com, generally speaking (and especially if they're of the "jobsearch.com" quality / variety)! :tu: :imho:

Best of Luck.
