3rd-level ccTLD registrations

If you had a chance to register a decent keyword in a 3rd-level ccTLD, (for example .com.xx) would you recommend it if it had a reasonable yearly fee of about $10/year?

Depends on extension.

If .com.XX was the primary extension where 2nd level registrations are not availble, as with Mexico (.com.mx) or Australia (.com.au), then maybe.
If it's in an extension where 2nd levels are available, as with Spain (.es and .com.es) then I'd be less interested.

But if the keyword is that good then get it.

Only if the keywords are really good... as I registered yesterday casino.com.kg and poker.com.kg for 5$. They are excellent.
But these type of words are quite a few... You can look on some older threads that contained best keywords for a cctld and so....

Let's say there is both 2nd level .xx & 3rd level .com.xx available, the 2nd level extention is about $100/year & 3rd level is about $10/year, would you take the risk with keywords such as:

Porn.com.xx
Email.com.xx
Games.com.xx
Golf.com.xx
Travel.com.xx
Whois.com.xx

I know what cctld is in your mind, the ones that I've registered back this week.
Depends also if they get any traffic. I wanted to register nic.com.xx to see if it gets any, but I forgot it yesterday when it was available.
I did not register travel because the country is not a popular travel destination.
Anyway you can have chance to sell these names to somebody interested. Try getting appraisals for them, and then decide after 30 days (it is cool that you have that possiblity).
I would keep nic and whois only if they get any traffic.
Keep games, I think it is a good one, and email too.
