I will be creating a vbulletin forum soon and I'm interested your experiences with forums and how to create a successful one.

Also, do you recommend vbseo?

Would you get the vbulletin blog add-on?

Thanks.

it depends if you're just starting either get mybb or phpbb, creating it to be successful needs a lot of time, effort and money on your part for participation and also invitation of other members. you may start incentivizing members at first and from then on daily enticing them with contests, giveaways, rewards, incentives inside the forum itself.

If starting with mybb/phpbb. Can it transferred easily to vbulletin later?

I believe it can, I remember reading somewhere that vb offers a free program/plug-in or what have you, to transfer info from phpbb to vb easily. Good luck.

Most definitely. That program takes normal forums to crazy high traffic forum in weeks.

I would recommend FIRST getting vbseo, then paying for some posts, buy some links and banners and re evaluate from there.

But I will be the first to tell you, forums take alot of time and work and money. People sometimes think that you can put up a forum, and the next day have 100 members. It doesent work like that :)

Be committed, stay focused, and invest wisely.

Maybe some day youll be like the guy who bought a beamer because his forum made so much money with vbseo :) Not sure if you ever read that story, and I would get you the link but vbseo.com is still down for the count. :yell:

i read that article, he purchased not just a BMW.. he went on a shopping spree...

VBSEO is by far the best MOD available, with the new upgrade GOLD... i cant wait to get more results from it.

I have another forum, that is 2 years old ... i did not purchase Vbseo for that one... and the traffic on that is low. my current forum is 55 days old, and it has got more traffic...

Taken from your site:
Currently Active Users: 3096 (76 members and 3020 guests)

That should make people really want to buy vbseo :)

while VBSEO is a good tool for VB forum, no one actually will post or join on an empty forum. once you are done setting up the forum, you need to invite your friends/relatives/neighbours/facebook friends and anyone else you can think of to participate on your forum. if you have a large network, that will do the job to make the forum look busy within a short period of time. oterwise you need to get some paid forum posting to get some activity going for the time being till you get some decent number of people join and start posting.

VB has adsense revenue sharing option which you might wanna consider as well. there are lot of people look for revenue sharing forums where they can earn for their posts

Getting the ball rolling on a forum is the hardest thing, even with a few hundred members or plenty of visitors you need to get people to post also. I have used a few times paid people to boost and start forums discussions, under mutiple users. Though each of the forums has failed in some way or another, I do think this is a good idea. Or offer prizes and giveaways for posters to get people writing.

If you are just starting your forum, it is very important to make sure everything works. One of the things that could hurt your forum is if your users find errors that disallow them use of your forums features.

This only happens, when you act cheap and not invest into vbulletin! Error free!
