As TV is all about televisual content, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at the perceived cost of film and the real of cost of film through a little experiment.

Would anyone care to guess the ACTUAL cost of the following film in US dollars..

Yes, it is mine. Filmed this month in Piccadilly Circus. So I am absolutely sure of the exact film costs.

Happily, I'm not seen in the film at all!!!!

I counted at least 4 people in the credits that would likely need to be on-location. However, I don't where any of them are from, so lets assume $750 for each of them. Suppose the necessarily permits and/or potential fines (I'm not sure how relaxed the rules are) cost another $200. I imagine that props probably cost around $100 for the two lab coats, tape measure, and heart. You've probably got another $100 in sound clips if you've purchased them rather than finding free ones. The big question has to do with the modus operandi. Were you filming in digital or were you using actual film? Film can get pretty costly.

My guess = 4300 Euros = 5853 U.S. dollars

I think that would depend on your editor.
If he is on your payroll and is on a weekly wage, I would hazard a guess that took him less than 3 days. He looks like he is a 3d max user also.

If the cameras and staff manning the cameras are also in house, the cost would be negligible.

so.. everyone on wages and all working within your company, I think the total cost would be "cheapish".

First of all - I LOVED the idea!
As far as the guess of the cost goes... I'll start with a few assumptions.

1) You set it up with a few friends of yours

2) You don't count the hours of you guys shooting the film as part of the cost

3) Judging by the tripod that I saw in a small frame, I am thinking that you had to rent a camera + some accessories. The second camera was handheld, so I am guessing that it's yours.

4) The editor was a friend who participated in the project for some laughs!

5) You did not have official permission for the shoot from the London city - so you didn't pay a fee for the location (or the monitoring of the location).

Based on the above assumptions, I am going to have to say about $75 (including some snacks that you probably consumed during the shoot)!
