.mobi June T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Domain Auction in New York

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Conference

The upcoming T.R.A.F.F.I.C. event in New York should be an interesting venue for introducing the domain industry to the financial and business world. It will also include a continuation of the dialogue with Madison Avenue about using domain names. "Wall Street here we are and we are here to tell you why you should care. Our top tier, all-star analysts will address Wall Street and expose them to the profitable world of domain names."

The T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference will be June 19 - 22, 2007 at the Grand Central Hyatt in New York City, NY. Conference attendence is by invitation and the cost is $1,795. You can get information at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. website .

Domain Auction

The live and silent auctions will again be run by MONIKER, and I believe that this time with a focus on financial industry domain names. Over 60,000 names were submitted for consideration for the last auction in March. Time to get them in now before the last minute rush.

Names for must be submitted to Moniker by Thursday, April 26, 2007. Right now you can email Moniker with your list of names and then they will ask for the name, registrar, minimum "take home price" (take home + 15% = reserve price) you will accept, a preferred category and keywords for each name. Moniker will email you a contract ("Exclusive Right to Sell Agreement") to sign and fax in. You can find information about the auction at the Moniker Marketplace

Post Your Submitted Auction Names Below

If you would like to list your names that you have submitted for consideration go ahead and add them in this thread. It will be a while before we find out which ones get selected for the auctions.

Get your MOBIs in there. Good luck to all.

Financial names for New York auction

I sent in a few .MOBI names for consideration, most are focused on the investing and financial space:

terms, LBO, EBITDA, GAAP, LEAPS,

dividend, exchanges, arbitrage, leverage,

inflation, deflation, capitalism, lien,

eurodollar, franc, smallcap, fixedrate,

soybeans, soybeanmeal, soybeanoil, porkbellies, livecattle, livehogs, heatingoil

Curious to see which ones get picked out of this list. Hopefully a couple of them. Over 60,000 names were submitted to Moniker for the last auction and they had to sort thru them to get it down to about 3000. Only 5% ... 1 in 20.

Hope that this New York T.R.A.F.F.I.C. auction lives up to the billing.
Best of luck to all who submit names.

:hi:

I'd like to see the actual results (including the Buyers and their unique and compelling development plans) of the prior Traffic show "sales" of .MOBI's ... before getting too worked up for the one later this summer, IMHO. :gl:
Regards.

It's okay to get excited ...

.
I agree that it will be interesting to see what eventually comes out of the .mobi names that were sold in previous auctions. Just like names with ANY other extension, some of them will be developed, some will be parked, and those bought for investment purposes will be held for resale. Names that were purchased to be developed - will be done so on their owners' timetable - and of course we all hope they will be coming soon to a mobile screen near you.

One shouldn't dismiss this quarterly auction based on the slow closings of any previous "sales". Transactions take time to be completed. On NP - a buyer and seller can turn a name over in less than an hour. Compare that to SEDO and Afternic where a domain transaction can take a week, or two, or three, or it can take a month. In the case of Moniker auctions, I believe that names have to be held in a Moniker account first. Some registrars prevent moving a name out of an account unless that name has been held in an account for at least 60 days. There are all sorts of logistical reasons why transactions take so long. And we will eventually find out what happened to all the names from the March auction.

But the world does not sit still. The business world does not sit still. And the domain world should not sit still. We can not wait to promote and sell more dot-mobis (or dot-whatever) until previous transactions are fully vetted and sites developed. It is up to each individual as to whether they choose to "get too worked up" about the upcoming June auction. However, this is an exciting venue for ALL domain extension sellers and buyers. And it's fun to watch ... or listen to. A concentrated group of buyers and sellers' goods (domain names) are put in a room and a cyber-realestate-steel-cage-match ensues. Okay, a little exaggeration there just for fun.

Seriously though, in this case, I believe that the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference where the live auction will be held is more important than previous ones. One reason is that some of the scheduled discussion sessions will focus on introducing the domain name industry to Wall Street and Madison Avenue. Those are two huge potential influences on the future of the domain industry and New York City is one of the main centers of investing and advertising in the world. IMHO those are two pretty good reasons to get a little excited about the upcoming auctions.

At the very least, this auction is another opportunity for domain name owners to showcase their names. That in itself should always get domain owners at least a little "worked up".

:hi:

Thanks for the post ... unlike other extensions, uniquely these .MOBI domains need to get into the hands of the DEVELOPERS for unique and compelling content as part of the larger "ecosystem"! So, for now, I choose not to get "too worked up" until I see this actually occurring in the .MOBI space, IMHO. The transfers can take time, I understand ... but it is this -and- the respective Buyers that I am most interested in, in my humblest.

PS. Will you receive free admittance to the next Traffic show (usual cost is $1,795) for your efforts? :gl: :lala:
See you soon.

 LOL
No, but I wouldn't mind if you suggested it to the TRAFFIC "powers that be". I see the potential benefits for ALL domain owners as these industry conferences grow. And yes, I obviously think that .mobi has a lot of potential.

The main reason I started this thread is to get people moving ahead of the deadline next week. Without fail, the day-of or days-after the submission deadline and the days surrounding the auction itself, we see many posts wondering howand where to submit names. I remember last time that I received my spreadsheet to fill out all the information about the names the day before the deadline. It was a bit of a scramble - names, prices, categories, and keywords to fill out for each name.

Jeff, I believe that if you had worked for NASA on the Apollo missions that you'd be on the team of engineers responsible for bringing the boys back from outerspace to terra firma. Some are responsible for the blastoff, some are tasked to keep the orbiting going, and some are thankfully on board to keep us grounded.

Best Regards,

Keep up the good work, Acc ... and keep one foot (under the table, at least) on the ground! :snaphappy:

Righto, you deserve that freebie ticket IMHO ... and I'll see what I can do (may have to tap some of those pre-Emeritus™ connections). :p :talk:
Thanks again and see you soon, my friend.

i believe they ask the Exclusive Rights to sell your domain for 60 days. And if you sell it withing those 60 days whether through them or on your own you r suppose to pay them 15 % commission.
i have recieved an email from them with the Exlcusive Rights Agreement document and domain information document.

i got a question. if account rep contacted me back after domain submission with some forms to fill in, does that mean they accepted my domains?

I wish everyone the very best, truly ... but we are literally talking "needles in a haystack" type odds of actually selling here, friends!

Bottom line: Do not let this distract your from developing your .MOBI's! :gl: :imho:
Good Luck.

It means that they will add all the names that you submit in your filled out spreadsheet to the cast of thousands ... from which they will select which ones to go to the auctions. Approx. 3000 were auctioned out of 60,000 names submitted last time around.

Other Bottom Line: Do not let this discourage you from submitting your good names because every bit of exposure increases your chance of selling your name. Like even posting them in this thread ....

And of course .... developing your OTHER .MOBI's is important. :gl: :imho:

Best of Luck.

Deadline is getting closer

... Less than one week to go ...

I have started to see questions about how to submit names for the June NYC T.R.A.F.F.I.C. domain auction starting to pop up in other threads, which can take them off-topic pretty quickly. That is the main reason that this thread was started .... to try to help answer those basic questions.

Check out the first post in this thread for more details.

- Good Luck to all -
