LMAO
1/ "Category killers" (or "category defining") has yet again been abused...along with 'premium'
For the most part, a crappy list; about 10% that could truly be defined as "category killers", the other 90% filler ie auction failures/rejects :bingo:
It's the same old tired, long tailed domains or very small niche domains that have been put on the auction block time & time again...the rest just boring brandables that have plenty of substitutes :bingo:
And can we expect 3dmovie.con on that list anytime soon? :bah:
Maybe CustomerService.com yet again? :bah:
In fact, MOST of those domains, it's almost certain no one has ever inquired or would even offer more than $1500 TO OWN the domain...so it's unlikely they see the point of leasing for a value anything significantly more
So at best, assuming they bite at leasing, the end user would pay no more than $150 pm over 12 mths w/an option to buy or something like that
In which case, is it really worth all that time & effort to lease the domain..
Oh well, at least that covers a bunch of renewal fees & buys a good dinner..
2/ Here's a few laughs:
- Jigolo.com - "The worlds leading #1 site for Jigolos - for those who can't spell Gigolo!"
- CRMSoftware.com - "The schumck who supposedly paid $40,000 for it a few weeks back, bereft of ideas, is now looking for JVs"
3/ My prediction is this will see about the same overall level of 'success' as LeaseThis.com
(Where were these schmucks to champion LeaseThis.com when it first appeared a few years ago?)
In other words, other than possibly a convenient well-timed manufactured 6 figure 'announcement' or something...DISMAL FAILURE
Oh well, at least the cost of this venture was limited to $300...about the cost of making the website...truly win-win.
4/ I just don't get it with this resurrection of domain leasing
It's been tried before with LeaseThis.com
Where were all these schmucks back then & why weren't they championing LeaseThis.com a few years ago?
And has anyone heard anything noteworthy about LeaseThis.com since then? NOT
Were most of these newbie crowd (most of the blog comment whores) even around back then when LeaseThis.com launched?
Not saying there won't be a few leases here & there - there are always exceptions - but it's a small fraction of end users who want to purchase (& purchase only)
And usually only true compelling category killers that would motivate the end user (with no comparable substitutes)
All this second wind at leasing is also a sign of weakness & desperation for domainers
Many geriatrics & middle-aged domainers ain't getting younger, alas time's not on your side...tick tock...
People owning Picasso, Van Gogh art don't need to do marketing & offer joint ventures" n sh

5/ REMEMBER folks, having the ideal domain has NEVER been an obstacle for the true entrepreneur.
They can 'prove' their idea on any low cost or $9 domain
Oh they might come for the domain AFTER the ideas a success but that just underlines the fact they don't need to lease the domain (and at high prices, at that, along with the high expectations of lessors) in order to "test their idea"
It's only mostly domainers who are obsessed about this & who have the mentality of "the ideal domain didn't fall into my lap, oh well I'll just stay home"
