The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
who has the right to self police who hates spam
What does this mean? Is this in regard to your other thread?

Interestingly, only 1 of those threads was created by Epik staff. All of the rest were created by other members, including you.

Are you suggesting that NamePros limit the number of threads that unaffiliated members can create about a single person or company?

There are also many threads on GoDaddy and its affiliated companies, experiences, etc.

Do you have a suggestion? It would help us understand your post.

We appreciate it when you take the time to share your feedback with us.

Thanks for getting back, yes I did create one because it was needed due to the Registrar poll being flooded.

There can be a million threads on any company, I am talking about these threads get bloated and way off topic. because if people thinking they are the rightful police of the forum.

Back in the day we used to say if someone spammed like for payday loans or nike sneakers.

Just report it, let a mod come in and remove the thread or post that was a violation.

When someone replies Nike sucks, the spammer gets what they want, the post gets bumped back to the top of the section and new posts.

If that person just reported it, you could remove it. Now with blatant spam there is usually not another side.

But with these Epik threads it's battling back and forth, not like the GoDaddy posts you mentioned.

In the registrar poll thread, Rob spammed, you guys did eventually take care of that and he got banned I understand from the thread. But there was a ton of posts not related to the topic but about Rob and Epik and spamming, then those defending Rob.

In reality the people should have just reported post #2 you guys remove it and the post stay on topic.

So what I am saying here, is you as mods/management should let membership know to either leave Rob alone, report and you will deal with it, or going back and forth, bringing religion and a host of other things into it is allowed.

These 3 threads served no purpose,

https://www.namepros.com/threads/i-like-rob-but-epik-staff-have-skewed-all-polls.1179736/unread

Just there to start with Rob, that should have been a pm to you if the op was upset.

And then you get the people who are going to defend Rob get into the mix, there are members here regardless of the rules who are going to come to Rob's aid in these so-called, spam police posts.

I think it would be better if you said WE WANT IT TO STOP. If not at least everyone will know and can push things as far as they like or just stop participating on the forum.

Thanks for clarifying.

We've tried to express that we'd like that to stop many times, but we haven't had much luck. There are some very passionate members on both sides.

We need to try something new, and we're open to suggestions.

More on this in the following post:

Oh I know you have not saying you have not tried, that's why on all sides if people are told to stop they should stop or get an infraction.

It's kinda like if you are on the road, and someone speeding, it's wrong, but people are going to speed,( like people are going to spam) but it's up to a cop to pull that person over and give a ticket, I cannot run someone off the road or cut them off on to the shoulder and say "Hey asshole stop speeding" When the cop comes along I am getting in trouble for running the car off onto the side of the road. I don't have the authority to give a ticket.

You haven't had much luck because there is nothing behind it.

You lose members because of it - https://www.namepros.com/threads/he...iness-at-namepros.1171771/page-9#post-7583607

Lost another one yesterday.

Ban button, hit it.

If you have a Registrar Review thread and people start talking about religion or conspiracy theory, you hop in the thread, give them a warning to stop, link to the Religious or Conspiracy thread where it's supposed to be.

Do you think somebody that's been banned 6 times, is too concerned of violating the rules again?

If somebody reports spam, you don't let it sit there for a day. Mods were online, why wasn't it handled right after it was reported?

Has nothing to do with luck, you need a willingness to handle stuff.

It's the same conversation year after year.

lol
that's so funny, that it's sad

no matter what the issue is....
staff, can't be depending on luck, to insure members are adhering to forum rules.

exactly!

imo...

Hello,

The phrase "haven't had much luck" was used as an expression, but we should know better than to use expressions because some members take things too literally; it was later updated to "haven't had much success [conveying that]."

We did make contact with Kate a few weeks ago, and Kate has not been away for any of the reasons you've assumed, so we can put that to rest.

Yes, some members feel the same frustration that we do and have asked us to close their accounts. We believe a large part of that is because they feel there is nothing they can do to fix the things that are frustrating them (see more on that below). Most of them come back after a break, but we are still trying to find the best solutions to these problems that are causing frustration.

As we mentioned to @equity78, the next solution being explored is to empower the community with the majority of control over forum matters. There will be different levels to that, and the most sincere members who have the best interest of NamePros at heart will be in control of what happens. These discussions will become mostly community based and your peers who love NamePros the most will decide what happens.

Learn more:
This will take a while for us to complete because there are many aspects to it, but you'll start seeing changes this month that get us closer to it.

Please express any concerns or suggestions relating to that in the following thread:

Thanks.

Anything @Rob Monster says is “spam”

to all his detractors naysayer (all other registr)

Usual suspects in house. Smells like agenda!

Nothing should be done.

The “problem” doesnt really exist.

Alexa rankings (up) would also tend to agree,

People who blindly defend Rob's every move and action are part of the problem.

Rob has received multiple warnings & infractions for self promotion.
Multiple posts were removed from the "Best Registrar" poll thread.
He was given a temporary thread ban.

Even before that he has had countless posts removed for self promotion, and threads moved to their correct category (promotional).

Those determinations were made by NamePros.

Those are the facts, like it or not.

Everytime you guys say this I can't help but to think of this:

I didn't bother to watch the video.

You lost me when you made a comparison between blatant rule violating self promotion on a forum and a video of MLK.

Rob is the one who needs to learn to follow the rules when it comes to self promotion.
There is no one else at fault for this.

The video wasn't just about MLK. So you lost me too. :xf.smile:

Hi

yes, I agree

in such a position, words used should convey an explicit and very clear message.

as it's the only way I can interpret, and understand what you're attempting to communicate.
and when used to convey punitive measures, warning, infractions, banning, etc, such language should leave no room for misinterpretation

if you say "luck" then to me, than means "gamble, odds or chances".

still
from what i know, there are mechanisms in place to remedy the problems and issues at hand
it starts with a reporting system that records the issue and notifies staff

and the ability of those mechanisms shouldn't depend on "luck" to function

I know being a moderator ain't easy,
you have to be the enforcer and interpreter of the guidelines and TOS of the site which you moderate.
and often, it's a thankless job.
you don't want to be too heavy handed and you can't be no punk either

just saying...

imo…..

Please create a separate section for fans that love specific registrar to keep them all in one place.
I personally end up by ignoring every staff member of Epik, it is getting annoying to see 10 posts a day about Epik. Is this what Namepros has come to ?

Fan boys should have their own little place.

Something like a category called Fan zone with sub-categories for each one: Epik, Dynadot, Godaddy etc
