I see the date for mxsr.com is february 2015

If it wasnt for sale the thread should be closed. Is there a time limit in np rules stating a time threads expire?

Now the thread is closed..
I say the name should be mine for $175 and in the future people make sure they complete their " paperwork"

Now mods tell me why this name should not be sold to me at the listed price?

Not open for further replies eh... Does anyone feel this person should honour their post, or has the statute of limitations kicked in. And it seems at this time the owner of mxsr has not logged in since I posted sold on his thread. Gonna read the rules, maybe for sale threads expire after a set amount of time.

The thread was closed this morning, the same person owns it, what if he had listed it on sedo 6 months ago and forgotten?

If the seller honours it, good for both seller and buyer.

If not, maybe try to be understanding if the seller apologises for forgetting to close the thread since it's an almost year-old thread with the last update more than half a year ago.

If everyone starts using law and rules to take advantage of other's mistakes or carelessness, we may have lost sight of some of our humanity in our quest for profits.

Thank you Jen-Sin
Law's and rules are in place to prevent people from being taken advantage of. It should state in the rules, how long listings and posts should be valid, and when if they expire. Maybe I could go back 3 years and find a bin listing thats not closed. No time, for that. I just wonder why the thread was closed by a moderator, no explanation.
Sorry to the seller, like to hear from the moderator who closed the thread, what exactly is going on, and what rules there are, or arent

I will be understanding, I am a nice guy. I may even sell it back to him at a reduced price. Say $300 lol

Time for a coffee and muffin at mcd then off to the casino to play the horses at woodbine.

If anyone has a quad premium LLLL.com for sale under $200 let me know

Have a good day eh

Yes, laws and rules have their places.

But I have also seen and experienced how some people (not referring to you) abuse laws and rules to benefit themselves at the expense of others.

Like I mentioned earlier, if the seller steps out to apologise for a honest mistake, it's still up to you to push for the completion of the transaction or accept the apology and move on.

You may not have the time dig out old threads, but don't be surprised by people who do. lol

If I'm not wrong, thread starter can close/lock a sales thread and not just by a moderator.

Now I have a question maybe a moderator can help clarify. What if a domain you indicated sold at BIN, but the name is already sold, what happens next?

Off topic, what if this person gets bin at sedo, afternic, goodaddy?

Topic'

Is there a statute of limitations for time on a fixed price thread?

I have 5 names auction in my sig
I went to sedo, afternic right away and removed them, to not create conflict. This is a job, part time or full time. To some its a game and some bite off more than they can chew.
I understand people are busy and forget a thread made in a forum 6 months ago. I am sure the seller would honour his post, but i know the value and am fine with him keeping his name. This was fun.

If the seller insists i take the name, i will

Official Rules of NamePros
6.1.4
. Offers are valid for no more than 7 days, unless otherwise defined in the thread. Learn more about how an offer is defined.

Marketplace FAQ
v. What counts as an offer?
i. An offer is a deal that someone can accept or reject. Once accepted, it's binding. Fixed price domain listings, Buy It Now ("BIN") prices, and counteroffers are all considered offers because someone just needs to accept them.
https://www.namepros.com/threads/marketplace-faq.848731/#section-012200

Therefore, I think that BIN prices are valid for 7 days, unless it was otherwise defined in the thread.

To reiterate Nerevar's comment...

There are a pile of marketplace rules.

Generally marketplace offers are considered valid for seven days (6.1.4). Presumably this applies to both buyer and seller. Otherwise, any thread that is not updated by the original poster within 14 days is de facto closed (6.1.20). When and if rules are broken, the default state is for no sale to occur (6.1.5).

The auction rules are more stringent, and the one place on Namepros where sellers are compelled to complete a sale (6.2.10)

How can you even think a thread from 9 months ago is still live. LOL Big deal, the guy forgot to remove it.

Law's and rules are in place to prevent people from being taken advantage of.

You're not really talking about a problem where strict laws and rules apply though, e.g. the seller did not honour the final bid, you're just talking about the fact the thread was not closed.

Also, who has been or could have been taken advantage of? I'd agree with "my time was wasted" as you spent your time bidding when the thread should have been closed. Although within the thread there was a clear winner over 6 months ago, so clearly the thread and sale etc are done and finished. So it would have perhaps been prudent to just reply in the thread or PM the seller "Is this domain still for sale".

I can see your gripe, but it's only that someone forgot to close up an old thread, which is frustrating, but is there any real harm done?

I have better things to deal with that two week old sh*t where, I was simply unaware of a rule. Its all been rectified now

It's infinitely ironic that in a thread you complain about someone leaving a thread unlocked,
you also complain about people responding to your open thread which you could lock.

:xf.grin:

I wasn't calling up a mistake you did or did not make. I was simply saying, sh** happens, and no harm done, etc.
