After avoiding it for so long, today I finally bit the bullet and decided to try and integrate a redesign for one of my sites. The site itself is powered by Xoops, and since I know nothing about php coding, I decided to opt for simply skinning it with my new template rather than pay a fortune to have it built from scratch.

After hours of slicing and coding my template, and tweaking the sites CSS, I finally got it working...or so I thought.

It works fine in Opera (with the exception of one or two little issues I need to clear up before porting it across to my main site) - however to my horror I realised it is completely borked in Firefox and IE.

Luckily I played around with it on my xoops test site first, but now i'm at a loss for how to make it compatible with the other browsers. I have tried using seperate stylesheets, and that solves one or two problems, but for the most part its screwed.

If any kind sould could check it out here: http://www.thesinetwork.com/xoopstest and maybe bring any "well-known" issues or likely problems to my attention then it would be VERY much appreciated, and will help prevent the damage i'm causing to my scalp with all this pulling my hair out i've been doing!!!

Well I don't have opera so I don't know how it is suppose to look. Perhaps screenshots of the page in the various browser for those who don't have them, this would be mayor help to people trying to solve the problem.

Firefox | Internet Explorer | Opera

The way its displayed in Opera is how it should be (with one or two minor adjustments needed)

I've managed to fix a few problems, but others have me stumped :/

If anyone can help me fix it, either by PMing me and explaining what to do, or actually being able to point out my errors/code the CSS i'll pay them $50

Thought i'd update this should anyone find themselves having problems with skinning Xoops.

I found out that Xoops uses two CSS locations - one is a core CSS that is located in the root xoops folder, and the other is located within your theme folder.

Opera takes all formatting info from the CSS in your theme folder, whereas IE and FF pull from different things from each.

For some bizarre reason, IE and FF were not pulling the formatting info for news items from the themes CSS, and as there was no info for this area in the core CSS it was screwed. All I had to do was ass the class details for news items into the core CSS and it seems to work.

Still a few tweaks to be made, but the big problems are dealt with :D
