I recently had all of my domains contact info changed to someone else name and emails without any authorization from me.. I wrote to support and the issue is still unresolved.

I also wrote to @Noe earlier, but he did not write back with more info.

I'd like to know what is happening and what kind of registrar istanco.com is exactly and whether others have bad experiences with that registrar or stories of domain theft or such... is this registrar generally considered as "safe to deal with" or is it like some kind of european scam site? I was only there for a year so far, and paid good money to register some .rs domains... but I'd like to know of any other mmeber experiences with them, before I give them more of my money on renewal etc... as I never had on any other registrar before, my domain contact info just change overnite and it is against icann rules for registrar to do so.

thank you.

Never had issues with Istanco, trustworthy registrar. Wait for Stanisa to get back to you..he's always resolved any issue I've had in a timely manner.

ok thanks. like I said I never just had out of the blue overnite all contact info change for all my domains on any registrar. and I deal with a good few. so this definitely raises alarms. especially .rs which requires special authorization form from me.. and then a fee etc.. maybe a system bug. some bug if that's the case! so its good for them to know, so they can fix in future. I'll wait his reply.

thanks for info.

It has to be a bug...I've never seen that happen either. Odd you need special authorization with .rs, I don't have to do that...
.ee is kind of quirky, does need certain trustee numbers put into the contacts

hmmm.. its been mentioned on threads a few times for .rs
and I double checked with support too.
it appears its a .rs rule that you need download pdf form to authorize contact change.
you mean you get around that somehow?
there is also $7 fee.

the form is downloadable on their site too if you have .rs domains, just go into its options and it'll show form.

Gotcha- yes for a registrant transfer. But to simply change your own contact info you can just edit yourself, no fee.

hmmm.. one of us is very wrong.
I hope it is me.
cause I'd love for this to be free.

but as I said, I am afraid that even to change contact info on their site (no transfer).. it needs $7 fee and the form.

unless things are completely different when:

I go to change my own contact info .. then its all freee no form.
versus:
I push doamin to someone else (still on istanco) and then he wants to change it. then he pays $7 and uses form

could that be it?

thanks.

I've never pushed or transfered from them, so that could be where the fee and form come into play. But I have changed my own contact info, ie address or email, and have never been charged.

@alcy did this get sorted out?

yes.. looks like some bug or support mishap.
either way its serious stuff if you wake up one day out of the blue to see all your domain contacts changed to someone else.. so I hope they get their act togetrher and don't stress their clients too much in future in this way.

other than this, stil not sure about that $7 thing I mentioned.. I asked rep.. he said he's not sure and he'll talk to his friend there.. no news since then.. I guess @Noe don't talk too much.. but.. at least he seems to get job done in silence.

cheers thanks for asking

Yeh I'd say...it'd be pretty worriesome. don't blame you for reaching out.

Cool man glad it's sorted!

RS = ccTLD = NOT regulated by ICANN : smile :

The change of registrant is a fee charged by the RS registry itself so it makes sense that registrars have to charge for it.

Happy it was fixed, that's rather shocking for sure. Personally have a dozen names with @Noe and have appreciated good service and tickets answered quickly. I have RS at two other registrars as well, one updated their control panel and it's now entirely in Croatian : grin :

i agree.. cctlds can differ in rules etc.. of course that does not justify and explain changing contact info on my domains without my permission.. but it may justify the fee.

however, I am sure I do not need to remind you that not all cctld charge to change contact.. I also own some .al domains.. and they do not charge a thing. but I am sure you already knew not all of them charge. cheers.
