If it's real traffic (beware of fake traffic), and the price is reasonable
(consider the niche + traffic & possible revenue stats)...i see nothing
bad on getting a domain like this.
If you put a webpage (even just a blank one up), you should be able to use a stats program such as Webalizer or AW Stats to determine where the traffic is coming from (eg. incoming links, search engines). It might be direct nav as well, hard to say without knowing the domain, however putting up a webpage will help make it easier for you to determine.
If you park the domain on a lander which has a search box, you might be able to learn what your customers are looking for by what they're searching for.

Thank you guys for the replys.
But how can I find out if the traffic is targeted and if it is real traffic ?
you also might want to look at the archive.org history to see if you can figure out what was on the site as well. Beware of asian traffic if you are planning to park because many firms do not support that traffic in their payment plans.
