NASA has one too. It's for sites with a large amount of content. The search is aimed specifically at the site.

I actually came across a site today on Google that had a search bar too. Might be something new they put into place today as it was the 1st time I saw it.

What feature does this add that "site:www.domain.com" doesn't?

Not everyone knows you can use code or special characters in google search.
I must be for "heavily" indexed paged sites.
