Hi!

Friends, can you please help me with the name i/c/c/t/r/o/p/h/y com? I want to confirm whether the name is a trademark infringement?

I am attaching the screen shot below taken from trademarkia.com. About i/c/c/t/r/o/p/h/y

Based on your snapshot: the status seems to say the "TM" was abondoned in 2003.

I would say yes (just one guy's opinion) This would be because the International Cricket Council could easily prove the ICC in your name is referring to the International Cricket Council based on their ICC World Cup Qualifier used to be called i/c/c/t/r/o/p/h/y. Just an opinion Goodluck

Registered trademark is not the only trademark protection. If you are planning on using this in relation to ICC, cricket, etc. you would likely lose any issue related to TM under a common law definition of use.

It is probably a low risk name, so I might just park it and let it expire when the time comes. Maybe see if you can sell it cheap to www.icctrophywhitetailranch.com

Why did you register this name in the first place ? That's the question that will be asked if your ownership rights are challenged by some TM holder.

It all depends on what you put on the website, if you infringe on their trademark, you stand a chance that they will take the domain from you. If you put up a website about the Internet Chess Club, they probably could not take your domain. But ChessClub.com might go after you instead. Indian Cycling Club, maybe? It's all about your content. You (mostly) can only infringe on a trademark by the content you put on the website. Which is why parking the domain is not good, because you have (almost) no control on any ads which will be displayed. There are probably exceptions to the infringing content rule, like ipod6.com. Even if that domain doesn't resolve you are more than likely to have problems with it. Infringing on trademarks is a minefield, not to be undertaken by noobs.

I have removed the domain from parking too. It will just be showing default registrar page until expiration / deletion.

Thank you all for your guidance.

@1domain - If you are going to leave it like that, you may as well delete the domain right away, and forget about it.
