Is there an escrow company that handles "trading" names, not buying?

Does anyone know who provides an escrow service for two parties that are trading names, with no money exchanging hands? If so, how do they charge for it?

I don't see that this company provides escrow service for two parties that come to them wanting to exchange names. Their FAQ is not working so I cannot verify.

They facilitate exchange but do not actually escrow the name like Sedo does on sales.

To answer your question... I do not believe there exists a reputable company currently offering this service. You could always ask a reputable domainer to act as the escrow agent. I'm sure plenty of people here would be willing to help out for free or a small fee.

If we're talking XX,XXX+ value trades, I'd only trade with someone from your country and would recommend drafting up a contract with a lawyer.

Seems like a decent business idea. Someone like Sedo should do it since they have their own accounts at all the registrars and can have both parties transfer names to them and get them both in their control before doing the swap.

I would not trust doing a swap with someone at zuho.com. One person can always screw the other, and there don't have trader ratings like here. In fact, this forum should start a "Swapping" forum and charge something like $50 for doing the esrow for people.

I totally agree. :)

It's much easier to find people to trade names with than people willing to pay cold hard USD -- especially on those expensive names...

Great idea. Such an escrow service should offer not only "one for one" swaps but also "many for one".

For example a person wants to swap four of his .info domains for a .com domain. In that case only one domain (the .com) would need to be transfered to the service, the owner of the .info domains would then send them directly to the recipient and after that the service would release the .com to him.
