Hello:

I just signed up and am confused navigating already, lol.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is a sticky start guide for beginners on how to research/locate marketplace, what domain to pick, and, how to contact owners.
By the way, I am looking to get into selling domains only! I am not interested in creating mock websites with domain Nor, am I interested in building a website around a domain name.

I just am interested in information on flipping domain names. I don't want to confuse myself further with information overload.

I'd also like to know other pros and cons with domaining because I have no idea what I am getting myself into in this business. What I want to do is read some stuff to determine if this business is even something I want to pursue.

So many times people get into stuff because it sounds like a good idea only to find out they aren't cut out for it. I'm in investigation mode I guess you could say.

Lastly, did I put this thread in the right place? I saw something that said "young domainers" in sub forum. Also, saw "ask questions here", so, I am thinking those are two different sections?

I surely don't belong in the "young domain section" yikes!

P.S. I'll try and keep my diatribes to a bare minimum next time. Once you start typing... :guilty:

Read every thread you are interested in before asking general questions. Read other sites about domain market. Stay tuned about recent and historic sales. Write personal notes. That's what I did a few months ago, and still doing.
I understand you perfectly. I made some mistakes too. The only way is staying in continous learning mode and ask more concret questions.

Here, you would find most of the threads are long threads, very knowledgeable in itself, they are sticky themselves.

READ..every thread on this forum...there are a dozen newsletters you should subscribe to..google: domain investing, domain flipping..and sign up. It took me 8 months of reading non stop to understand this business. In the end a domain is worth what some one is willing to pay for it AND good selling skills.

Yes it is a long process to fully understand what the true meaning of domaining is. The best way to do it, I found was just to get my feet wet...and purchase some domains, and get familiar on what Registars are and just get a feel of what domaining is My advice to you would be, do not over do it, do not take anyones word or sales pitch about how good a domain is.You must learn the process to appraise domains yourself, so just get involved in the Domain Forum Community. I agree with serryjw, it took me a good 8 months to see the good solid foundation on what domaining is. Good Luck to you! :)

Namestour..Let me add..Through caution to the wind..Don't listen to any ONE domainer...in the end it's just THEIR opinion. Sales of Domains (to end users) is mostly a pro-active process. Most will not find your domain unless you introduce them to the fact it's available for sale. Unless you have a bottomless pit, buy or hand reg small purchasees UNTIL you are absolutely sure of how to determine the value.
I think of domains like art.
