I have been noticing something lately and wanted to get the community’s thoughts on it. It feels like the crypto domain market has gone unusually quiet. Even strong keyword names related to crypto, coins, tokens and similar terms are getting far less attention than they used to.

What surprises me even more is that domains connected to major cultural or political themes in the United States are not performing any better even when they are paired with crypto related terms. A few years ago it seemed like anything connected to crypto had momentum. Now it feels like the interest has cooled off across the board, no matter how relevant the keywords are.

So I am wondering what others are seeing. Is this just a temporary slowdown while the market resets? Has the space become too saturated? Are end users simply not building new projects around crypto branding anymore? Or is the entire niche just past its peak for domain investors?

I would really like to hear what others are experiencing. Are your crypto related names still getting inquiries or have things gone completely quiet?

Hi

you gotta get in when the hype is fresh
otherwise you’re chasing a bandwagon that’s left the station

imo…

On the other hand, 1usdt.com just sold for over $4,500. It was an expired domain name from NameSilo.

There's 2,808 sales on NameBio with the word "Crypto" in them.
  • 294 of those sales happened this year (2025).
  • 210 were in 2024
  • 262 were in 2023
2025 is actually the strongest year in sales out of the last 3-years.

Where are you seeing the decline?

Thanks for sharing the numbers. That is really helpful. My point was more about my own experience. Names with the word “crypto” might still be moving, but I am seeing very little activity for related terms like coin, token and similar wording within the crypto space. That is where my confusion comes from.

According to NameBio:

Coin domains:
  • 432 in 2025
  • 387 in 2024
  • 349 in 2023
Token domains:
  • 92 in 2025
  • 85 in 2024
  • 87 in 2023
Same pattern as crypto domains with 2025 being the highest number of sales totals in the last 3 years.

Remember, not all domains are created equal, it could simply boil down the type, niche, sequence and extension your specific domains are in and not necessarily the entire market.

Without knowing the domains in your portfolio that have declined in interest, it's hard to know where to expand research to figure it out.

Thanks for the additional stats. That helps put things into perspective. It may just be the specific niches or sequences I have rather than the broader market. I would share the domains, but it would not feel fair to use this thread to promote my own names. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to break down the numbers.

Yes, it’s the same pattern. Crypto is exploding, and Bitcoin reached its highest price in 2025. I also remember Bitcoin.online selling for $25,000 just two months ago.

It should also be noted that without digging into some of the sales reported, we can't determine if there are any real world use cases or if most are hyped between resellers speculating.

Genuine demand lays with the end-user looking to build trusted brands.

A reseller hyped market could result in a lot of bags of hot potatoes burning the investors left holding the bags when a niche or trend fades out.

The number of domains with the "usdt" prefix has been steadily increasing. My domain, usdt.xyz, has also received some offers this year.

Thanks, Alcy. I appreciate your sharp questions because they always make the discussion more lively. I was just sharing what I am seeing in my own inquiries and negotiations. For me, names with words like coin and token have become a bit quieter compared to before, so I wanted to see if others are noticing the same thing or if it is only on my side. Hope that makes it clear, unless you plan to twist it again. 😄

They are all lulling you into accepting the compulsory one.

Normal sporadicness aside, this slowdown can happen if you have sold your best names and you haven’t replenished your portfolio.

Memecoin projects can and will just register whatever ”fun” TLD is available, such as .fun.
