I sold a few domains(~20) on ebay and have had really bad experiences. Out of those sales, i have had 3 deadbeats.

1) A buyer doesn't pay and then a month later is no longer registered with EBAY.

2) A buyer doesn't pay for about a month after the auction ended. I resell the name and file a dispute and then he/she wants to pay for the domain.

3) A buyer (gasp) does pay me. I pushed the name to him but he/she never completes the process. A month later he decides he doesn't want the name anymore and files a paypal dispute. Repeated emails to him are ignored.

This is really a high percentage of bad transactions(15%). How's everyones' experience selling one ebay?

eBay is somewhat risky in terms of transaction costs (indirect, as you mentioned above) and direct (seller fees.) You can, however, set limits on who can bid on your names (in terms of user rating), which might help alleviate those issues somewhat.

eBay can be a good source to sell names, assuming its properly structured.

I have found that ebay can be a great tool for selling more valuable domain names. I only accept escrow.com, and I require the transaction to be initiated within 48 hours of auction close. I have run into a problem buying domain names on Ebay, as some sellers get a little rediculous about the value of their names. However, for the most part, I think it is possible to do very well on Ebay.

Escrow has high transactions costs, so it really only is economical for high value names (xxx and up).

Which is specifically why I said "I have found that ebay can be a great tool for selling more valuable domain names"

Thanks.

A good place to auction your premium names only
Medium and Low value names will be lost among others

I have never had any luck selling domain names on ebay. Unless you have a great domain name, I don't think that it will sell. It is not worth paying ebay fees.

eBay is hard work. When I had a smaller collection of domains, I had more success on tdnam.com. It's hard to work with a large collection of domains on tdnam as it's more time consuming and doesn't offer services to help you build up a reputation as a seller.

I have not had any problems with selling on ebay. I have even made some ok profits on useless domain names. It can be good for buying.. I've picked up some real bargains.

My preference is always to list to people who are geniunely wanting them, and for that I prefer to sell here :)

I've been selling domain names on eBay for almost a year now. Once you build up a momentum, and establish a "brand" as it were, you do tend to get some regular customers. I've made some pretty good sales, and I've let some IMO amazing names go for less than reg fee.

Overall, I've made money. I'll keep doing it, but it's not a fulltime, main income for me.

I haven't sold a domain on ebay in several years. I used to sell quite a few there, mostly in the <$100 range. The problem is, most don't sell in only one short 7-10 day listing period. By the time you add several listing fees, final value fees, paypal fees and your time to maintain it, to me it wasn't worth the effort for moderate value domains. I think for a domain you know is valued at $xxx+ and are willing to feature it and post in multiple locations, it might be worth the cost risk. If you aren't 100% confident in your domain's value and developability, I'd advise against ebay as a sales channel.

When I did sell on ebay, I found that I got more sales by listing in non-domain categories than domain categories. In other words, listing something like antiquesales.tld in the antiques category instead or in addition to the domain category. This tended to put it in front of actual end user or dealers who might find it valuable. The domain category is mostly looked at by domain remarketers who want to buy low-sell high, and are looking for bargains.

depends

ebay has many user constantly searching thru the listing

so chances are that you get good traffic to your listing, as well as some bid

but smth i see listing are bidded with such a low price that put the sellers at an disadvantage.
