Oh geez, where to start...

We're certainly moving in that direction, but we have a long way to go before quantum computing becomes a viable replacement for traditional computing. A really long way.

That being said, it's not out of our reach. D-Wave produces working quantum computers, though they're quite secretive about the details. All we know is that they seem to work. They're also quite expensive and require things like supercooling that aren't realistic in a home environment.

I was looking into qubit-related domains recently hoping to find some available for new registration, but, as usual, all the good ones seem to be taken.

When i read up on this i read that a few qubit servers could run the worlds internet. So would it compete with home servers / computers?

Apparently there is a server running now but only select people can use it.

I grabbed a few qubit names a couple months ago. When i was searching "i thought" there were many good names.

QbitStorage
QubitDataStorage
QuantumBitStorage
QbitServer
QuantumBitServer

They're only better than normal computers at solving specific types of problems. The ones that exist now are generally slower than the laptop that I'm using right now. D-Wave has a simplified explanation on their website that describes specifically what problems quantum computers excel at solving.

We still have a lot to learn about quantum physics, though. For normal users, the biggest goal will be to pack more computing power into the same amount of space. Right now, we don't know enough about quantum physics to do that. It's quite likely that we will in the future. Traditional computing has a theoretical density limit that quantum physics could help us overcome.

Interesting, thanks for your input!

Feel free anyone to comment more, i think it is a cool topic / technology.

Just edited the previous post with a link to the D-Wave page that mentioned: http://www.dwavesys.com/en/dev-tutorial-intro.html#section1p3

It's meant for programmers, but it's still simplified a lot, since it can be a confusing topic for developers coming from traditional computing. It requires a different optimization approach.

I was reading something about quantum computing a couple of days ago and as I love quantum phisics I love the idea of quantum computing. I have no idea about when or even if they will happen but it's certainly fascinating.
Would I invest in those names?? Personally I don't think so as I see it a quite far away future and I am always quite afraid of wasting money in new trends...
I registered one only superpositioning.com

As for new trends what about water printing? Not what we now know being water printing but the actual printers which use water instead of ink. I got 2 names in that field as imo it seems to be a thing more ready and more likely to happen in a short period of time.

superpositioning.com sounds like the perfect spot to stick an xkcd-like comic.

I took it because it's the foundation of quantum physics, because it's a dictionary word, because it's brandable...mainly because it's a frigging good name!!!!! :notme:

Look interesting.
But we did not know when it can become available in the market.
Can you hold the domain name that long ?
