.US domains.US domains
Like all the other new extensions?
Nope.

See all the other threads on why this tld and that tld will be or not be equal to .com in anyone's lifetime.

It will be nowhere near as much as the .com. I don't know when .web is launching but gTLD's have no market right now and will not have anything resembling a good market for years to come, so you would have to be in it for the long haul paying premium renewal prices to more than likely end up with a loss or very little profit.

No new gtld is going be .com, you need to understand if you are registering one, what kind of budget you have, you will be renewing for many years on the hopes not a guarantee, but on the hopes that a secondary market exists where you can sell a domain like Golf.Web and it was worth the risk and the time of renewing each year.

Another thing you need to look at is Golf.web will more than likely not be there for some individual to register for $15 or $30. It will be a premium name that the registry will look to maximize value.

.Web along with all of the other new gTLD's are not even in the same league as .com, period! Anyone telling you different is either someone that stands to gain from you registering or someone that wants to believe like you that there's another .com goldrush coming.

As others have said already, there is a goldrush happening right now but the only thing you're going to find is fools gold!

Have seen some bids on Sedo on new gtld's. Wonder who the fools are?

thank you for all the answers..Of course .Com is the leader of all.But what makes me understand the most is that .Web is good only for one word domain.of course not like .com but hope fully we dont get high prices for the market..
I agree to with all of you.But i think better to couch a single domain name then 2 word connected..Cause is going to be more easy to remember the domain..
I have pre-reserved some single domain names hope the prices are not going to be crazy one :)

Lediontk - Although others say 'nay', I would point out it is likely that certain of the new sponsored gTLDs will obtain a value on the aftermarket, and I have to say .web is likely to be one of them. Now what that value will be depends on uptake - not by domainers but by the public.

I feel it is likely that some of the sponsored gTLD's may start to acquire a value similar to the .info/.org gTLD's in the first 1,2, or 3 years, with perhaps as exceptions a few even approaching or matching .net values, though these I think will be rare.

If you are on a limited investment budget then tread carefully would be my advice to you, and I would not pay premium prices in most or maybe any of the new sponsored gTLD's, that is for the big players to muck around with. As always it is research and effort that will pay off, but that goes for all domains. ;)

I spoke to several Domain brokers about the gtld's values. The ones I spoke to seem to think at most you would get is 5% of the value of the .com but more like 2 or 3% of the value. That can still be a lot of money if the .com version is worth $100,000.00 but keep that in mind when you buy.

If you are looking to buy .web domains for reselling purpose than you may waste some money.

I have a feeling .WEB is going to do very well, as it's a globally understood word that people will naturally be drawn too. Also a potential nightmare for domainers who will feel compelled to dive in and register anything of 'high value'. By the way, am I the only person on here who's had a sudden drop in inquiries and sales over the last few weeks since the new GTLD's hit town?

.Web: I predict 750,000 registrations in a 5-year Period

*

IMO:

If you want to extrapolate on how well .web will do, take the current number of registrations enjoyed by .net and multiply it by .05. I predict that this number would be achieved within 5 years, with about one-third of that number achieved in the first year.

15,000,000 (approximately) X .05 = 750,000.

Year 1: 250,000 regs
Years 2-5: 125,000 per year

That figure may even be a bit high, but let's take into account that it is an appealing and broad-based gTLD, which will offer many one-word possibilities that make sense.

I think that would be a generous assessment.

This is just an opinion, based on nothing but intuition, so if you disagree, I'm fine with that.

Does anyone know that it will cost to register a .web domain? I assume that most premium names will have a premium renewal rate also?

I totally agree with you :0 Of course one word is going to make a lot of sense.and .web will give the meaning of the website on the internet. And of course a little investment on one word domain with .web sounds good i am with you...

I will definitely invest in .WEB as well. I hope to acquire some generic keywords during EAP.

You don't need to explain what a .com is.
.web is great but all the traffic will go to subdomain.web.com.

Good news for Web!
