Is Moniker a good place to list aftermarket domains for sale?

I currently promote domains at SEDO and Afternic.
I'm not sure how many 'real world' people (ie. non-domainers) learn about any of those sites, and actually use them.

I am looking for someone to clarify my sense that Moniker is kind of an insider's listing place, and that unless one has domains that appeal to us nerds, like LLL, etc... that one is less likely to get a sale there.

I guess that's kind of a newbie question.

Besides SEDO and Afternic, what other places are good to list and promote?
Is there any reason to believe that one's odds increase of a sale substantially for the extra effort involved in finding more domain sale sites to list at, especially considering that some of them reference or share the databases of others (for example, GreatDomains.com being SEDOs premier auction site, PremiumDomains.com sharing SEDO listings, and BuyDomains.com referencing Afternic's data...).

Any relevant or related feedback to help this domainer get his first sale very much appreciated.

Thanks!

There are a lot of problems with the Moniker Marketplace but since it doesn't cost anything to offer your domains there you might as well.

One upside is that the buyer pays the 15% commission.

Downside is there system is broken.

If you receive an offer to buy and accept, Moniker may not inform the Buyer.

This has happened to me a number of times resulting in lost sales.

One occasion an offer to buy a domain came in. I accepted. The Buyer made payment. Moniker never informed me. After 10 days, the Buyer contacted
me to see what was going on. It took a while to get the domain to him.
The Buyer it turns out is a NamePros member.

The next few times he wanted my domains ,he ordered directly from me.

He also told me he made offers on domains from other sellers but never received any follow up from Moniker.

He stopped using them as he had his fill of Moniker Marketplace problems.

On another occasion I accepted an offer to sell. Moniker then asked for the Auth Code to transfer the domain.

The next email said the domain would be transferred to my Moniker account.

I emailed back that I was the Seller not the Buyer.

It was an email to deaf ears and blind eyes.

As it turns out, they transferred the domain to my Moniker account anyway.

They apparently never notified the buyer of my acceptance and treated my sale as a domain transfer.

Not answering emails or responding to telephone calls is a Big Problem with Moniker staff. Check the board here, you'll see.

If you do list with them be very aggressive following up.

My Account Rep has been very abrupt with me when I tried to report problems. It is something I won't tolerate any more. I'm going to ask for a new rep.

Monte, the owner, is great. If only his greatness would rub off on his staff.

Good luck.

A truer statement has never been made! It usually takes several phone calls and messages to get a response. It is very frustrating, but persistence pays off. Remember that this is a reseller's market, so expect reseller bids from the buyers.
