Seems kind of depressing that if you're married on earth, once you die, that all flies out the window.

Guess that makes it more convenient for those that re-marry?

As I understand it Eternity is existence outwith time. Therefore a agreement/bond that is made by two people that are bound by time (as we are now fused by body and soul) can not unfortunately be eternal. If marriage was an agreement bound only by the soul and our souls were eternal then I guess marriage also would be eternal...

Marriage is definitely eternal. A person can always re- marry, but I think partners and relationships can never be replaced.

I think the purpose of marriage is on Earth to be in union to prepare for a greater life. Remember initially used for business purposes it is and always will be between the man and the woman how it will end up. No one can say for sure besides the two of them. Everything else is just convenient and up to your own discretion.
