Is It Wise to Buy "Law, Legal, Lawyer, Attorney" Domains?

Hello people,

As a very part-time & still wet-behind-the-ears domainer, I was wondering whether Law Lawyer Legal Attorney domain names are worth buying (.com's only)?

•Does anyone have experience with that genre? How's that working for you?

•For parking purposes, since they are "services" rather than "products," not sure what ads could be used for them(?)

•For simply holding them hoping to sell them, is there much of a buyer's market for them? (Attorneys usually buy their own names, so not sure they would care about generic legal domains(?)

•A Google Adword search was surprising (to me) in that the word attorney gets more hits than the word lawyer.

•Also surprising, since nobody likes to type long words, I thought the abbreviation for attorney (atty) would have more hits but it was at the bottom of the barrell.

•Re domains in general, what is your general rule for how many hits via Google Adwords? Do you only invest in domains that show at least a million hits, or at least 500,000 hits, or what is your cutoff, generally speaking?

•FWIW, below are some adword comparison counts I gathered yesterday:

Two characteristics of lawyers are vanity and wealth. Marketing to vain, rich people is like shooting fish in a barrel if you know how to appeal to their vanity.

That being said, there is an existing market for lawyer and attorney domains, however, it's very competitive and there are better niches to make a buck in.

Thank You, NoHeroes, for the reply!

Hehe, yes I know. When younger I worked a dozen years for one wild & crazy workaholic lawyer (said with the utmost respect for my former boss, of course.). We were both younger in those days but he did grow up and mellow out somewhat over the years, but was/is still a workaholic last I heard.

As for the vanity aspect, you'll love this... when I first got the job many moons ago, his "vanity license plate" on the front of his truck said, "STUD." :!::o:!:

Funny again. (I need a fish bowl emoji here!) You mean something like, BestLawyer.com? Unfortunately, that is already taken, lol. But I'm sure I could come up with a few alternatives.

Thanks again for that straightforward advice. I was only considering that direction from having been familiar with the profession. It's great fun coming up with ideas. But I have to remember to think of them from THEIR point of view and not my own. Also, being more experienced with generic domaining in general is probably what counts most.

So what are some other niches? I already wore out mobi (as a prefix/suffix, not as in "dot mobi" domains).

Some lawyer bought a domain from me a while ago. The domain was the acronym of the partners' name. They were not generous on the price though.

Hmm, cache, that's a bummer. Thanks for sharing the experience. Did you have a set price up front, or just "open for offers"?

If the latter, when they offered whatever price, did you counter-offer?
