I am planning to buy recently expired domain names with high PR and develop new web sites on them.

What is your experience about this? If the site still has most of the backlinks, do you think i can keep the pagerank?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

It must correspond with the previous site...If you make a totally different site, than I really doubt those links will help. :)

It had PR4 and I kept it until now.

This is just what i am planning to do. Installing a directory on an old high PRed sites.

Could you share your experience more. How did you manage to keep the PR? Did you buy this from SnapNames like services or directly bought the dropped domain?

It all depends on when you put content on; how sucessful you are; etc, etc.

So when should i put content?

And is there any factors for the success other than obtaining backlinks as quick as possible?

Content should be put up the second that you get the domain, and it should be regularly updated.

yeah it should be regularly updated..
because most expired domain names left unattended..
they tend to lose their pageranks :(

Hmm.. So web directories are risky to put on expired domains since adding/removing urls may not be considered as an important update?

No, if you buy an expired domain with page rank, soon i.e. usually within a couple weeks or so, the page rank will drop to 0. Google does not allow expired domains to keep there page rank.

Best of luck!

That is correct.

However, as said above, if you re-develop the site/domain with related content as it had before (that many times you can obtain from WayBack Machine) and considering most of its back links will remain than you can get the full or close to the PR it had before.

With No development, No PR.
