Is it possible that a registrar renew name longer than you paid for?

Is it possible that a registrar renew name longer than you paid for?

I have a name I transfered to RF a while back and then transfered out of
RF. I know I am pretty bad at tracking my names, but no matter how
I calculate, at the end I think I may have got 1 more year than I paid for
(maybe I am wrong, but I just want to know is it possible?).

Is this possible? I am not complaining, just I don't want my name expire
thinking I have more time than the actual expiration.

When you transfer to another Registrar - A Year is usually added (By any Registrars I've dealt with) - Are you allowing for that ?
