I have been taking advantage of the $.99 .info sale at GD. Over the past week I have reg'd at least 30 new info domains. I dont even think I would bother regging these if they werent so damn cheap.

Are .info even worth regging? I dont really know how they perform, reseller or enduser wise but I think I got a few good keyword .info.

Anyone else grab some good .infos recently?

Heres some of mine:

StockingStuffers.info
NewLifeChurch.info
SpywareRemover.info
CancerHospital.info
Pipettes.info
PaperShredding.info
GraduateProgram.info

What do you propose to do with them?

The only dot info I have got recently is CheapCruise which has got some nice search figures.

Otherwise I stick with dot coms which I find easier to get end users for.

dot info's are nice. all you really need to do is create one Mini site sell it for $30
and you have your investment back. I have done this many times with a nice ROI.

I plan on trying to sell some to endusers. I am sure somone will be interested in PaperShredding.info or SpywareRemover.info, if you search New Life Church you will see what I see, opportunity to make at least $100+.

Even if nothing unfolds, I only spent $1.19 - better than spending $7.69. Chances are I can always resell on the boards try to make a quick buck. Most of the .info I reg have very high search results, near or over 100,000 month.

I have found a couple hundred nice key phrase dot infos in the last few weeks. Typically the dot com, net, org are parked, but the info is available. Many have exact match searches over 1,000.

What other business could you find where you could risk $3 plus a little time to see if an idea makes money. Unlike real estate, any time you decide it isn't working out you let the domain expire and there are no lasting effects.

Since I develop mine with content that ages well I never sell them. The first year gives them time to age up in the SERPs and after that it's annuity income. :)

How do end user prices for dot infos compare with dot coms for names with such high search figures?

If you want to see some successful .info sites, visit the .info directory:
http://info.info/directory
It lists only a selection of websites, but as you will see, some of them have reached a quite good level and, if their owners would sell them, might reach prices even in the the xx,xxx for the top ones.
It shows that .info has always had a potential - even if it has taken more time to unfold than I had expected, but wait - I remain a strong believer in the future of .info names, although they will probably always remain less general than some other TLDs, more appropriate for some specific uses related to the TLD itself.

I have seen lots of mini .info sites for sale. Mostly are copied/pasted contents that bring zero benefit to Internet. That's why this extension's value has dropped these days.

I grabbed a pile of them last year - Dotster had them for 99 cents without the sneaky 20 cent fee. This year I am watching them drop, drop, drop taking my 99 cents with them.

I have sold a few for a decent profit, could come close to breaking even on the group if I spent more time on it - there is the rub - time searching the good ones, time selling, then hope to break even. Not my kind of game.

One advantage was that I was able to see the traffic and clicks (minimal) and skim off a few to keep. But I am not overly hopeful about those few I kept.

I have learned not to buy an info for 99 cents if I would not buy it for $8. Your mileage may vary.

it depends on the new extensions coming up i guess. but IMO it's going to look pretty good in a few years that we could pick up these sort of search numbers - for products - and in a gTLD (not ccTLD) for 99c

I just picked up

CampingAccessories.info and a few others with 40,000+ exact searches a month.

Even if you can grab only a small amount of that traffic, that's an awful lot of sales

:)

I have a few infos, but I think that for an info to be truly successful you have to have a dead-on keyword.

The value of .info has risen significantly in the last couple of years. These are not the best .info keywords and they are selling for low to mid $XX,XXX.

Flu.info $14,000 Nov 08
Adware.info $25,350 Oct 08
CEO.info $32,500 Oct 08
Tarife.info $14,100 Sep 08
Printer.info $21,500 Aug 08
JobsOnline.info $12,000 Aug 08
Manucure.info $46,217 Jul 08
Vuelos.info $15,999 Apr 08
MedicalDoctor.info $10,500 Mar 08

If you look at previous years' .info sales, you get slightly fewer $XX,XXX+ sales and for stronger keywords. For example, in 2007

Money.info $22,000 Mar 07
CreditCards.info $25,500 Mar 07
Free.info $42,000 Nov 07
Lotto.info $12,500 Oct 07

Domainers are not selling the top .info keywords because they realise prices for second tier keywords are rising and they are holding on for high $XX,XXX to low $XXX,XXX.

Another thing I have noticed is more low to high $XXX .info sales for ordinary keywords.

I completely agree with you. There's not much you can get for a dollar these days and the possiblity to make a 2,000% ROI isn't unlikely either. There are a few gems out there definitley worth regging and holding on to. .info is personally my third favorite ext, behind com and net...it pin points what the internet is all about...information.

I have been doing some research on recent .info sales and have also seen a slight rise in prices for generics and two word terms. I definitley think that flipping a 60,00k+ searched term to an enduser is very possible, its a generic domain at a fraction of the price. It still conveys the same message to prospective visitors and in these times selling a generic .com for $XXX,XXX is less likely then selling that same generic.info for $X,XXX :IMHO:

Heres my thought... :imho:

1. Spamware.info - is not a very recognizable term in comparison to adware. there are only 1600 searches a month according to google, compare that to 550,000 for "adware". i value it around $25-50 on the forum, enduser obviously more

2. SurgeonDoctors.info - same as above. doesnt even compare to medicaldoctor. medicaldoctor is a generic term for "MD", a surgeon is a doctor, its repetition. there are only 1600 searches a month for "surgeon doctors" with 0 ad competition. the .net, .org, .us, .tv, .biz are all still available, why would you reg a .info when superior tdls are available? why not just reg them all and have a monopoly on the tlds? this is worth $0 in my opinion
