Hi. I have a few recently registered domains. Some with PR, a couple with traffic (not sure what type, how much and how to check) and most domains previously had websites now archived. I have decided to try parking (not sure where yet) and see if i can generate a little moola and wondered if i should url forward the domain names to the archived website urls or not bother and is there any benifits from doing this?

no benefit at all. your indexed backlinks will shortly disappear and if you set the NS to most parking companies then they will accomodate any url referrals.

IMO,It is the same with changing DNS.

all your backlinks will be removed from google, don't do that. it's only advisable if you're ready to get rid of it and you're selling redirected/expired traffic.

There are drawbacks to url forewarding and benefits.

If you just use your registrars forewarding setup the only benefit I see is the ability to quickly change parking services. You don't have to wait 3 days for nameservers to fully update. (worst case) In that scenario you might as well just change the nameservers.

You can roll your own forewarding by directing traffic to a host and then use a script to direct traffic on. Be careful that you do it correctly. You can mess it up and have some of your traffic going to a 404 page instead of to the parked page. You need to make sure forewarding is set up to foreward all traffic, not just traffic to the root domain name. Its easy enough to do but also easy to miss.

There's a couple of reasons to do it this way. One is that it allows you to log your own traffic. In the logs you'll have a list of the actual website they came to you from. Then you can tell if they are truly a type in or are just coming from a backlink. Another is if the domain has image backlinks. You can look at the referrer pages and make up your own images to replace the missing ones. That way you don't lose your backlinks nearly as fast. sometimes the pages that are linking you will go months or years witout even realizing they have a dead link. :)

In my oppinion which is best depends on how true to "parking" you want to be. If you plan on parking the names and leaving them alone just change the nameservers and forget it. If you want to be more active, url forewarding is the way to go.
