is it a good idea to register xxxxx.com if the xxxxx.org is PR5?

I found some 5-letter acronym .org domains with PR5, but the .com is not registered. Those domains are some associations or churches related. I don't
have any plan to develop acronym names, I am just hoping to get some PPC.
How much traffic do you think it will get for the .com if the .org is PR5?

If it is avilable, register it. and redirect to ORG site. don't loose your traffic to others.

I think the OP is asking if he should reg the .com of a PR5 site that he doesnt own, so rreditecting it to the .org is meaningless.

My answer is yes, if you know how to monetize the traffic.
I am not sure how much PPC you can get from a church related PR5 .org in the .com variant though...

correct. I don't own the .org, just want to find a domain to register.

I think I may want just to park it since those .org are simply some
associations of some sort, hard to develop. Any predication on
what the traffic would be?

How can you predict traffic for .com when we do not know how much traffic .org is getting. How popular it is?

Well, PR 5 can be obtained when some high PR sites back link to .org but that does mean lot of traffic to .org, right.

Would Alexa be the one?

Yes, you can use Alexa for a feel of the traffic.
Alexa is known to be manipulatable so, that the report with a pinch of salt.

just ran alexa:

two PR5 domain.org has no alexa data
one PR4 domain.org has 3 million alexa
one PR4 domain.org has 2 million alexa

If I choose the PR4 .org with 2 million alexa, register the corresponding .com,
how much traffic do you think I will get?

When u say 2 million alexa .... u mean 2 million traffic rank ?

That's terrible. 2 million is basically what you get when you start a site with like no content and no visitors.

Ignore PR. It has no bearing on traffic at all, although it does indicate a site has probably been around long enough to get some backlinks & therefore *some* traffic, but it depends entirley on its audience. Could still only be 5 hits a day. Could be 0 if its a niche subject.

As stated above, the Alexa rank is way more important. These still vary - i had an Alexa rank of 120,000 and was getting about 2000 uniques a month. Now i'm about 220,000 and 1500 uniques a month. At 1,000,000 you are probably getting about 800-1000 a month, but its not a straight maths calculation - its dependent on who else is getting what. You could be 1,000,000 with 500 a month and 500,000 with 520 a month...all relative to other sites.

I understand that this is still art rather than science. Suppose the 2 million alexa rank .org domain gets 300/month uniques. If I register the corresponding .com,
how much traffic do you estimate?

Based on the alexa ratings, you would be lucky to get 2 or 3 uniques a day IMO.

it is the traffic rank, the smaller number the better traffic.
