Yesterday, Godaddy.com- I put 9 names in the cart and i proceed to check out. Then Godaddy rejects my Credit Card with a note saying "They're unable to process my CC". This is impossible because i don't max out my CC. OK, then i tried PayPal because paypal uses my Solo Card (Debit Card) to deduct payment. Then they replied "Security Violation XXXX" for my PayPal payment option. WTF ??

This is the second time i'm experiencing the same problem. This incident sends a red flag to my unconscious mind to THINK!!!
I've seen posts by my peers about possibilities of Godaddy might be selling or stealing their searched keywords list.

Then i went to Fabulous, registered all the 9 names using my CC without any hassle. Smoottthhhh

OK I have few doubts.

Does godaddy reg'ing those names that have been declined to processed while we negotiate with the bank ??

I didn't experience any such kind of action because i manage to register them somehow within 1 hour from the time i searched on Godaddy.

Godaddy has been brilliant so far, i would be devastated if my instinct was right. I'm not blaming them for any misconduct but seeking evidence and views.

I don't think there is any connection here between a payment problem and registrar name farming. However I think you did the right thing in not waiting and regging them immediately afterwards. It is a good idea to have a backup registrar.

I've run across technical problems from time to time with registrars not being able to process a credit card. Sometimes creating a temporary and sometimes a permanent block. Had a problem with 4domains in which some glitch caused a card I'd used many times to suddenly not be accepted. When contacting my credit card company, they confirmed that the credit card process request never even arrived from 4 domains ... yet 4domains billing dept. can't locate the problem.

Your problem sounds most likely a temporary GoDaddy billing glitch. They have been experiencing more log-in problems too imo.

Remember that some registrars incl. GD make availabe to public theier "recent user searchea" lists.
So if you serach it - reg it or you might be chased by another users.

Thats a simple way to increase sales to the registrar.

Where can you get the list from ?

The payment has nothing to do with them regging the names you are trying to buy. Its happened to me a couple of times with different registrars(enom,gd,rf) and then after a couple of minutes it accepts the card.

Maybe some problem with the payment gateway i suppose.

Yes it is probably just like sometimes at the store and your debit/ATM or credit card doesn't go through. Just a glitch in the payment system. I've never had any problems with Godaddy, I really like them.

LOL- ok

Well i just thought if i could make a change. :hehe:

Nothing malicious, just to prevent myself from going to such location by rating the site as DR (Domainer Rating).

thx for the link anyway

Yeah, the internet is in general in it's infancy, and for payment processing, things are really iffy. You can be confident that 99.999999% of transactions are secure on verified secure sites (GoDaddy, Amazon, AT&T, Credit Card companies etc.). HOWEVER, payment processing errors are fairly common, even among large, established and respected sites.
I don't doubt that GoDaddy and EVERY registrar is farming though, or stealing domains if you want to call it that. The ethics and regulations surrounding the DN industry are almost as non-existent as the GPT/HYIP industry. Registrars are in the business TO steal domain names, they are the banks of the dn world, foreclosing, using tax-liens, and squatting on abandonded, neglected, and forgotten names. :(

Personally, I think that Godaddy is stealing the domain names that we (domainers) search for.

I agree. That's why I only use Namecheap to search, then I buy from Godaddy. However there has been some cases where they wont let me buy the name so I immediately reg through namecheap. To prevent this.

So, why wouldn't you just reg at NameCheap to begin with, save the time (okay, seconds) of jumping screens? Or, is it actually faster to use one as a search and then hit the submit button at another? I often search numerous names and que them, maybe I shouldn't? I'm losteder than I was before!!

I disagree with this. There are no lists available to public. If GoDaddy provides this kind of lists then the point will be proved that they are spying on user searches.
