Whats your experience with Afternic DLS? In 3 months NOT one offer on a domain for the $45. I asked them what I paid for and they say its their large network of brokers, buyers etc have more exposure to your domains where Sedo doesnt. What a load of garbage!

ADLS according to dnjournal has tons of sales but the problem is ALL the domains owned by them is mixed in with ALL domains meaning their domains dilute the domain pool giving you les chance to have them looked at let alone sold.

They charge a $45 fee then the 10% and 20% fee where Sedo is 10% and has alot more credibility and honesty even tho they also resell millions of domains.

Is Afternic owned by Name Media (buydomains.com)?

They dont even guarantee you will get your $45 back after a specific time frame. Another easy way for them to rip u off BIGTIME!!!

Wait a minute. First you say it was $45. Now you say you were 'burned' for $49. Who burned you for $49? The membership has been $19.95 for years. Never more.

Why not list the domains here and offer them for sale? Save the 10 % and make some new contacts in the industry who will most likely do business with you again and again??
Names that I routinely sell for $500 - $1000 on Sedo or Afternic only get $50 or so in a reseller's community like NamePros. I'll gladly pay a 10% fee. If I were to sell a name for over $500 here, it would be handled by an escrow service anyway, who also get their fee. It's unavoidable unless you want to take that much of a risk not using a third-party.

Gene,

I think he is adding on the new premium service they offer to sell your names. They say if you upgrade to it you get a better chance of selling your name as they have a sales staff for the premium.

I don't see it myself, but maybe those who paid to upgrade to it have some experince to share about the performance of the premium service.

Thanks -- that would make sense, but he seems to be saying, what was $49 is now $19.99 (quote: "i was burned in feb for $49. now adls site says $19.99"). In any event, it would be good to hear from those who have bought the premium service. As far as I know, there is no upfront fee for this. They simply charge 20% instead of 10%. See fee chart here: http://www.afternic.com/fees.php

I sold 2 names last month that were listed on the DLS and was just charged $60 not the minimum $120.

As for the difference in sales, I'm averaging 5 offers a month as opposed to 1-2 before using the DLS (expanded listings). It is really a no loose situation. You can bump your price to cover the 10%. Or you can average the 10% over the increase in sales.

Getting your name viewed by more potential buyers is never bad. If you get an offer that you aren't happy with but are willing to take (as apposed to countering back with a number that may loose the buyer) you can always push the name to auction. The great thing about the closing soon auction is that you may get 2 buyers that really want the name and drive the price up. The bad thing is it might go for the initial offer. But if the market says the name is worth X that is probably what it is worth.

They have good exposure and I think that it can be good value for some domainers but not everyone. Depends on a variety of factors. (e.g. Quality of domain collection)

$45 is the actual charge.
