Namewinner Extended Auction a Ripoff?

I almost joined a Namewinner Extended Auction until I read that it costs $50 to enter it and even if you do not win, they still take the $50! I can't think of any other company that works this way. So, if 10 people join an auction, they will make $450 just on those who didn't win!

What a rip!

To some people, $50 is next to nothing. It would be like -RJ- charging 50 NP$ to join the NP auctions. It would exclude some, for sure, but it would ensure that those who were there were really serious.

No, I've got plenty of money and I'm not going to pay $50 to join an auction where only the winner gets the $50 back. If you do Snapnames/Pool/enom type auctions, you know that you very often don't win the auctions, even if you are "serious." The $50 fees would add up.

They are just shooting themselves in the foot being the only one of all the major auction sites that charges in such a way.

Now that I think about it more, in fairness to them, this $50 is not for their normal auctions. It is for those auctions that are already in progress. $50 will get you into the auction late, something other drop services don't let you do.
