Whats your experience with Afternic DLS? In 3 months NOT one offer on a domain for the $45. I asked them what I paid for and they say its their large network of brokers, buyers etc have more exposure to your domains where Sedo doesnt. What a load of garbage!

ADLS according to dnjournal has tons of sales but the problem is ALL the domains owned by them is mixed in with ALL domains meaning their domains dilute the domain pool giving you les chance to have them looked at let alone sold.

They charge a $45 fee then the 10% and 20% fee where Sedo is 10% and has alot more credibility and honesty even tho they also resell millions of domains.

Is Afternic owned by Name Media (buydomains.com)?

They dont even guarantee you will get your $45 back after a specific time frame. Another easy way for them to rip u off BIGTIME!!!

I don't know if it is a ripoff or not but yes I think it is becoming a joke.

Lets ask for it back then! If we get enough people complaining about their fees possibly we can get some satsifaction. Its ANOTHER way for these big firms to promise you big things for fees, then they take our $$$$ and give you NOTHING in return.

This industry NEEDS a majot cleanup in such instances. Its simply NOT a proper way to run a business IMHO!

If its owned by Name Media (buydomains.com) I can see why they do what they do as this group of companies are a bunch of lowballing, sleazebags imho!!!

What exactly did they promise that they didn't deliver?
How much work was required on your part? Did you do the required work?

I was considering renewing my expired Afternic acct, but don't really see the need right now, especially if people aren't reporting any significant changes in their sales/offers.

I'm not a huge fan of Afternic, but I don't see how you can label them a "rip-off" just because you-yourself didn't sell anything thru their program.

Also, not to sound rude, but... maybe your names are not very good.

How would we know? You are complaining "Rip-Off" but you haven't given us any specific examples.

I can go list 100 crappy names at the highest-profile venue on the planet -- they still won't sell.

You could all post your feedback about it here:

http://www.italiandragon.com/?p=77

As you can see one of the director came to apologise for a fake listing that they did not check , so since he now receive any update on that thread, you could simply post your comments after his regarding Afternic. You can be sure they`ll go straight in his email and if they are many, since it`s Public, Afternic may start to listen.

Just try to be polite please otherwise I won`t approve the comments. Thanks

| just paid the renewal fee. I think I paid $19.95. Not so much.
Mind you, every year I always look forward to at least 1 Mr Angry message here on namepros complaining that they haven't been able to sell any of their wonderful domain names.........

I'm confused. Where is there a $45 fee? I pay $19.95 per year, and sell lots of names through Afternic. I'm thrilled with my membership with them.

By the way, I do equally well with Sedo, but they charge a substantial fee on top of their 10% if you're not parked with them.

Both are great resources in my opinion.

At sedo we average several offers a week and pay nothing to list. As far as afternic I haven't received an offer on there in as long as I can remember. And yes charging a fee to sell and then charging more per sell to do so in their "network" is nonsense. If their "network" sells a name they should split the commission they made since it was a network partner site making the sale and not charge a higher fee to the seller. The main reason being is as a seller if I'm paying $250 in broker fees you can very well bet I'm going to be asking $2500+ for a name I might have been happy to sell for $250. In turn afternic gets few sales as does the seller.

I'm more of a buyer than a seller on Afternic. It's more likely that serious, realistic sellers will pay the $20 membership fee rather than Sedo's free-for-all approach. Make no mistake, though, I still like Sedo! :)

You might not be selling because the names simply aren't great quality. I see tons of names with offers listed on Afternic.

I've never heard of a $45 fee, though...

$20 + 20% is steep IMO, especially when they're not purging old listings.

When BD wants a floor/asking price they hound the crap out of you. How about an offer (or at least a range) from a Buyer first?

I wonder how many quality domains BD has picked up through typos/clueless sellers on floor prices?

I think the higher fee is the new premium service for selling domains.

Trouble is no gaurantee you will sell anymore if you pay it. I have never sold a name in Afternic. I have pushed a name or two in their Escrow and I am sure they report it as sold thru them, yet I only used their Escrow as I sold the names first, and had the buyer pay thru Afternic Escrow.

I think the high sales being reported thru Dnj from Afternic are mainly the owners of Afternic's own names and are not so much Afternic members getting names sold. Also about one year ago I reported a guy who had hundreds of names for sale in Afternic and not one of them were owned by the guy. They kicked him out after they found out.

I am very much in favour of not paying any kind of membership fees as the sellers of names have the goods, (my and your names) as inventory. Why the hell make domainers pay for selling our product, (domains).

So I stick with places like Sedo where it is free to list names for sale and no membership fee is charged.

Ive had a positive experience with Afternics expanded promotions. I also only pay $19.99 per year, and finds it worth it. Ive don't nearly $10k in sales on their platform, even with the 20%, I just increase my prices by 30% and the world works itself out. =)

i was burned in feb for $49. now adls site says $19.99. PS. I have a ton of domains and they are NOT junk compared to some of the bizarre stuff selling on adls and sedo. Its just goes to show there is no accounting for taste. One day I hope top report something positive on adls but from my experience to date has been less than stellar.

Why not list the domains here and offer them for sale? Save the 10 % and make some new contacts in the industry who will most likely do business with you again and again??

Webuythe.com

you make a good point, except my experience is Namepros is pretty much resellers and the names just don't sell here unless at bargain prices. I am not talking of 10% off Afternic prices either, I am talking like 70 to 90% off!

Really, most buyers will find you if you have you have your "who is" up to date. I really don't understand why some domainers are afraid to be contacted and they pay to have privacy. You want buyers to contact you somehow if you are selling something right? So why pay Godadd- or someone to "make it private", lol.
