Thanks @Jacks86 keyword.io seem to have some lift behind them. I went to a couple of the Park.io ones, just to see what is there now. Bones has a black screen with white letters "BONES". Another was simply parked at Park.io. But Transcribe is interesting, note the seller: http://Transcribe.io

transcribe.io 130 USD 2016-03-27 Park.io

.io is a poor mans .com/net alternative.
Recently I sold my second LLL.io (CHIP) name for $350 + fees.
He would not be able to buy .com/net or even .co for that price so he settled for .io
It's a very specific extension - buying normal keywords like "floridalawyer", "cheapshoes" etc. doesn't really make sense.
End user in mind should always be app/web developer.
Things that might sell - 3L (e.g. someone's initials), words that can be used as an app name or web service (e.g. tickets, servers), brandable words used for portfolio or personal site (e.g. skyline) etc

All other extensions are poor mans .com alternatives

.io is like massive right now ! I just searched through my list , there are a lot of premium domains available for handreg , I grabbed some at namecheap for $30 , pretty reasonable price.

Also , LLL.io 's price is going to boom in the next 3 months . I can bet on that.

Go io !!

I missed this post from Mike at Park.io when the full NNN.io buyout occurred. (Didn't even realize the buyout occurred!)

All NNN.io domains are registered

Thanks for sharing good news with everyone. Now buyer has only 2 choice. Either buy from some seller via Auction or Fix BIN or buy from Drop.

I want to request to all friends who are holding NNN.io. Please do not sell for cheap or close to registration price. I think Flippa is best place to sell .io for sure. Do not try to sell .io here. Try to sell on Flippa. There are more chances we get better price over there for sure. I have more success with .io on Flippa and Sedo. I have sold few .io here as well but at less price (Still I made good profit).

This is just an opinion. Everyone has to take their own decision based on their own situation.

Thanks

@TERADOMAIN Totally agree with you , I am waiting for the LLL.io buyout , Most of the good ones are already gone . But if the others are also gone soon , the price hike will occur sooner . Meaning more profits for us all :)

Well, my use of "major" is a bit subjective, clearly. Arguable for me, here are some Alexa ranks:
  • Ghash.io - 58k Global Alexa Rank
  • Cex.io - 13.9k
  • Purse.io - 55.6k
  • Block.io - 42k
  • Blockr.io - 36.8k
And thanks re: the auction. We'll see what happens!
Nice

As an end-user (not developer) I'm letting all my .io expire.

At first I really liked it but:

* costs more than dot com
* doesn't allow whois guard, meaning I get spammed as result
* doesn't allow content of adult nature

Not worth it to me to pay more when I get restrictions I don't want.

I suppose for tech stuff it isn't a big deal, but I don't develop many tech sites.

* If you are an end user, paying $20 more for a domain is not an issue, imo
* Doesn't support Whoisguard - yes, but you can use whois opt-out option (just contact support and they'll hide your whois info for free)
* I'd use .xxx (if not .com) for adult content. .io is mostly for tech niche

Again, IMO

.io names have default privacy by registry which hides your email address. I am not sure how you get spammed by whois info. must have been something else on your website which reveals your email.

I wouldn't touch .xxx with a ten foot pole.
