The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
@doubleU - umm, what are you basing that on?

http://www.nic.io/about.html
>>>>>
The .IO Domain Name is the ISO-3166 code for the British Indian Ocean Territory and the .IO domain registry is operated by Internet Computer Bureau Limited (ICB).

Founded in 1997, ICB's headquarters are located in Christchurch, England with operational data centres in London, Tokyo, New York and Chicago, with replication servers in San Francisco, Amsterdam and Melbourne.
<<<<<
They also run AC and SH. I have lots of ccTLDs and some of them are a little questionable for stability and operations, IO is NOT one of them

It is mainstay is tech related and must compete with alternate extensions like .net .tech .co and others TLD's that appeal to tech start-ups.

It has little or no user demand from it's respective territory and has few other selling points other than its tech adoption. Renewal rates are also quite high, the cheapest is over $32

.io is like massive right now ! I just searched through my list , there are a lot of premium domains available for handreg , I grabbed some at namecheap for $30 , pretty reasonable price.

Also , LLL.io 's price is going to boom in the next 3 months . I can bet on that.

Go io !!
You think it's still going to boom soon?

My .io auction is really rockin right now...

95 .io Auction | No Reserve | Including 15 Additional Domain Hacks

And since I have posted that auction, with that exposure, I have made MANY very good sales of other .io names that aren't in that auction from random inquiries, as well as the amount of people who have contacted me to buy many separate names off of the .ios that are actually in that auction...

In the past month, I have have over 10 .io sales in the x,xxx range and multiple in the xxx range
.ios are going to boom... it's happening little by little already.

DAMMMNN, That's awesome!

Thanks dude,
I know man.
From April 20th to My Last Finalized Sale on May 26th (so a couple days over 1 month) I made $16,750 all on .io sales
Every Sale was Finalized, Domains Transferred and Funds Received.
And just the other day I got a VERY nice offer on Zuckerberg.io
But it's in the no reserve auction right now so can't sell it or it would have been ASAP.
So me and the Guy are talking and trying to work something out before the auction ends.
Only a couple days left on it...
I'm talking to quite a few people about BINS, but would love to go with him if we can figure something out.

I also got offered a little over 3k for prk.io last week, but that thing brings me in a lot of traffic and later I know I can sell it for more.

It's been one hell of a month and I did not approach 1 person to sell any .io's besides the auction I have up, and that is not included in what I made.
They all approached me.

And that is one thing people have to understand too...
There may be only a few marketplaces to sell your .io on, but I have 100's of other methods I use to sell domains, as well as buyers contacting me directly.
So everyone is tossing out Percentages for this, for that and for whatever.
But that is not even the case...
I know someone that sold a .io 2 weeks ago in the xx,xxx range, but it was a private sale, just like many of mine.
And I am networked with some serious .ioers and the sales they make... and the sales I made just last month alone, are all private.
Not everything is Public, and people have to keep that in mind.
To me...
Marketplaces are great... sure.
But in my opinion... those are the basics.
The basic places and the "impulsive" places to "Sell!!!!" whatever online property you may have.
But if you know how to get buyers and use different methods...
The marketplaces eventually are just an "extra" place to sell.
Don;t get me wrong...
They are Great. And I actively use them.
But don't limit yourself when there are really manyyyy other "marketplaces" out there.

So yea man... It's been crazy actually...
I've even had offers for my entire portfolio on my site Webstur.com and the Business itself, so I decided to put the whole thing up for sale, because I have done great with it for only having it a few months.

If that's the case, I am going to be starting a project I have had in mind for a while, and going to JV with 1-2 people to complete it.

And I actually finished Developing (will be adding so much more to it) StockPictures.io
It's Finished right now and has been for a good minute.
But to me... it is not done because I am preparing, developing and creating tons more stuff to make it just thattttttttt much better than StockSnap.io

I mean... StockSnap.io is up there on the top sites online.
It makes very serious money and is extremely popular.
I have StockPictures.io exactly where they are at development wise, but way more user friendly.
So after I am done adding everything else via concepts and more I am creating for it...
I am going to be going crazy advertising and marketing it.

And you are going to hate me for saying this, after telling my last months .io sales...
But when I was making StockPictures.io,
I wasn't developing it on a subdomain or anything.
I was developing it on the actual LIVE Domain lol.
And about a week or so after I was "done".
This team hit me up and said they were WATCHING MY PROCESS OF ME MAKING IT ON A DAILY BASIS LOL
When I read that part... I was awed and laughed sooooo hard lol.
I was like... shit... this company was watching me make this shit... I messed up so many times lol.
I was testing it with pictures of me acting like an idiot n shit lol.

But... I did not laugh when they said, WE WERE WAITING UNTIL YOU WERE FINISHED TO CONTACT YOU REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF THE ENTIRE SITE.
I was like... Seriously dude???
I am going to sell eventually, I am contacted regarding the domain name all the time... but damn... I just finished it and am pumped that I finally get to add my new features ya know.

So I told them it wasn't for sale, soon it will be, blah blah blah....
Then they responded with an offer, which was welllll worth it.
So I made a tough ass decision and I turned them down, because I have some Very High Traffic sites I am going to be advertising on, plus many people I know, as well as my marketing and advertising methods/strategies, plus the new features and concepts I am making for it, and it will soon be worth a hell of a lot more.
So that was a hard decision to make.

Anyways, yea bro... .ios have potential man...
You know it, I know it... and well... some don't.
You just have to be smart about it.
To me... it's for sure in the top of the very few best investments there is right now domaining...

That is encouraging stuff there!

Best of luck!

I've got DUI.io, Ringtones.io, Dress.io, and Gizmo.io at Godaddy and wondering now if I should have set them up at Flippa instead.

Man...
I'd develop the crap out of ringtones.io for sure... I sold a ringtone site in the past for some good money and made good money off of the site as well.
But that just nails it right there.
DUI.io is great
Dress.io is great..
Gizmo.io can have a good end buyer... i'd hang on to that one though...
Investors really started going in on .io tech companies this year in 2016...
So that is going to be a very good brand name from someone and will sell down the line or shortly as these companies are being built.
Kind of the same thing with VR.
2016 is the year of VR. But for VR products.
2017 will be the Domaining Industries Year of VR for sure.
Even though VR domains are selling right now,
Manyyyyy investors are waiting to see how VR goes since everything is coming out here in 2016, and if all goes well (which it is going GREAT), investors are going to be going nuts in 2017, as well as kickstarter, and just muchhh more...
Which means... VR Names are going to be going crazy.
.io on the other hand... it is not a product.
A lot of people say .io is a "trend".
Clearly they do not know what a trend is...
A trend comes and goes and is popular for a minute.
Lack of research and knowledge when someone says that.

There are 100's of INDIVIDUALS investing Millions right now starting business with .io
There are 1,000's and 1000's investing 6 figures in .ios for their business ect...
.io isn't "you wearing your hat backwords" or "Getting a Haircut because a Celebrity Just got their Haircut like that".
Those are trends.
This is Business.
That amount of money can be spent and invested by those individuals because... i'm guessing... they made many previous good business decisions and it's not worrying them any.
Yet, to reg a .io for $35 is the end of the world for people and for that reason... they just made the decision to not conduct that business.
But what they are missing... is that is bad business.
People are acting like "they personally" are the ones who need to get the average person to know about the .io extension so they automatically hate it.
But that is not the case.
.io will become popular by itself and with the help of all of the businesses, and major businesses coming along using a .io

Don't get brought down by people knocking it.
Every User on here knows more than the next user apparently.
But in reality...
The people who knock down .ios do it because they don't like it, and in my opinion do not understand business.
Look at the .io data, the facts, the progression and numbers. From Yeaaarrrssss ago until right now.
Nothing but growing.
You can' fix stupid.
Let them talk, and at the end of the day...
Just know... they have clicked on .io websites, will soon be all over .io websites and they are a good chunk of my market because they think like monkeys.

I seen your sites; three of them looks good. Really cool one was the blue. But there one thing about that site, that might reduce its value. How long it took you to build the blue site?

Webstur.io I like this.
Ahhh. Webstur,
Yea that is my Business I have up for sale right now with the entire portfolio ect...
Well thank you, I designed it myself actually.
Naw, that won't reduce the price.
I made it and did all of the hard work.
Nothing left to do but add and or remove names.
And I made a program for that, so it's auto for the most part.

That's hard to say...
I don't work normal hours online...
When I Zone in on something... I'm ZONED In... and sometimes pull a few all nighters in a row to complete a project.
If I can remember correctly...
Maybe 3 days and then another couple days for the program...
Then edits here n there.
Plus I am about to add a few new things to it, such as a brandbucket/namerific style brandable section, instant buy now buttons, video tutorials I made and some more things if I don't sell the business.
It get's good traffic and I hav not advertised it even ONCE anywhere besides below in my signature here.
prk.io is getting me great .io sales, and other names forwarded there are getting me even more sales as well as clients to train.

I can See Yon.io getting scooped via the asian market and someone most likely contacting you to purchase it.
Zup.io is a very catchy brand name...
I love branding man...
For sure catchy and memorable, as well as not limiting you on expansion if developed correctly
