These states may be a little outdated and the exclusion of Hindi and Bengali is a big hole, but take a look.

Those 200%+ growth rates sure look interesting. Russian looks understated by a factor of 2.

Interesting stats thanks fabfive....The lack of Arabic is a big hole too but the comparisons are interesting.

Don't know how I overlooked that. Add Arabic and Farsi and that's another 400-500 Million with growth rates similar to other "emerging" internet markets.

Frankly I think these stats are dead dodgy and probably include in English all those that would have preferred to get online in such languages as Arabic, Hindi etc, but effectively couldn't due to lack of support at various levels. With Hindi it might include lack of adequate hardware and software, wheras with other languages lack of browser support and relevant content might have been the main impediments.
