Here is the letter i just received in regards to RGBY TV

#####

Dear Manager,

We are a XXXXX Company which is the domain name registration center in Shanghai, China. On July,13th,2010, We received (COMPANY NAME HERE) application that they are registering the name "rgbytv" as their Internet Trademark and "rgbytv.cn","rgbytv.com.cn" ,"rgbytv.asia"domain names etc.,It is China and ASIA domain names. But after auditing we found the brand name been used by your company. As the domain name registrar in China, it is our duty to notice you, so I am sending you this Email to check.According to the principle in China, your company is the owner of the trademark,In our auditing time we can keep the domain names safe for you firstly, but our audit period is limited, if you object the third party application these domain names and need to protect the brand in china and Asia by yourself, please let the responsible officer contact us as soon as possible. Thank you!

Is this legit? I have never received a notice like this before.
If this is legit, what action do you recommend i take?
...or is this just another company trying to persuade me into buying their domains with their extensions?

Thanks to all who chime in.
:)

I've received a few of these in the last couple of months. My take on them is that they are just trying to sucker us in to buying our domain(s) in these other extensions.

My 2 cents...

Okay, you can ignore the email, but beware they will take further action like contact your hosting provider or domain registrar.

Mmmmmmm, ya know I'm going to be polite here and just say I seriously doubt it, coltter... :)

By the way, can anyone point me in the direction of a "how to" that explains how I can "register an Internet TrademarK"? I'm thinking I better start doing this with all my domains... :hehe:

It is a scam. They are trying to get you to buy a bunch of crappy extensions.

The second you get something from an entity in China claiming to care about international Trademarks you can safely file it in the "yeah, right" folder imho.

BTW: The above sentence is not an entirely defensible legal position

I've gotten those as well, though none for over a year. Just in case you still has doubts, it is a scam of some sort. File it with the letters from Albert Worthington III, Esq. of London offering you 20% of 100 million if you just contact him at his personal email at [email protected]
