I'm interested in purchasing VPS or possibly dedicated hosting. What would you guys recommend?
Can you get unmanged VPS? Is this substantially cheaper? I think I'm competent enough now to set the server myself, but I'd like to hear about your experiences. Is it hard to do? I've set up apache, mysql etc before, but I'm just a little worried about being able to set it up properly - i.e. so that it is stable and secure. Is it hard?
Basically I'd like something as cheap as possible (of course
) but isn't a shady company that will shut down. I'm also not looking for intense support, since I am capable of using google to solve my problems (), but I'd like people to be on hand if the hardware breaks... i.e. something that I can't fix myself.
