Recently I have begin to face something weird, not just on one registrar but many, at the same time.
The issue is that if a pending delete domain is deleted, the WHOIS shows as non registered, if you search it in a registrar search field, the domain is showing as registered, therefore you can't register it fast and instantly.
I have tested this even some random, non registered domains, and if you search them a couple of times, they show as taken.
I came to conclusion that AI integration into search is the culprit, as I mentioned in a reply of Afternic topic, the AI will cause issues per someone desire, this is not excluded that the AI to have it's own desires, based on how it was trained.
This is my own exp and opinion, if you think differently, share your thoughts, so that we better understand what is happening.

yeh...since Vincent no longer manage .ai is a problem with all .ai
i sold a .ai via Sedo
is still on my account but i can't look it , cant be transfer out , can't renew etc...
And i get this message
