I'm thinking about starting a site that recommends products for a particular industry.

The obvious .com domain is taken but .info is still available. Are .info's worth the effort or should I resort to a 2-word .com domain?

I tend to think .info's are good for pure information websites (resources) but they dont really work for mainstream websites.

But as long as the .info appears within the top few pages of google then there shouldn't be any major disadvantage, right?

Fair enough ... if you're going to develop this ".INFO" (and can eventually achieve great placement in the S/E's, etc.) then I'd say go for it, IMHO! :tu: :kickass:

All the best!

.INFO's can be particularly good if the visitors are apt to type in "info" as part of their keyword search..

If the site is full of thar particulat product's information, then you can go ahead.

well my advice is there is no risk in developing a site and most likely it'll grow because people like different things .. and i think .com are around for a long time .info its there time to grow now :)
