It depends, .in, at least I think, are a lot like some of ther other ccTLDs out there in that they have to be meaningful 3 letters to really be worth anything. There are still a lot of free 3 letter names out there when it comes to .in and some of them are good.

As you probably know, .IN is the new country code (ccTLD) for INDIA, which has one of the fastest growing Internet populations in the world. The .IN namespace is still in the newborn, or toddler stage, just beginning to get established. Like .DE and .US before it, some people are getting in early, and some people just overlook it. I believe that a couple years from now, the people that overlooked it will be wishing they had the vision to see it coming.

That's just my opinion, of course, and I personally like the Indian namespace. For that matter I'm a fan of country codes in general, so long as it's a major country with large population. I've sold a few nice .IN's for $XXX, hade a couple $X,XXX offers on my best ones. Nothing too spectacular, but a good sign this early in the lifecycle.

As for 3-letter .IN's, I've got a few that get decent type-in traffic because they are acronyms for established Indian companies. Whenever I've registered my 3-letter .IN names, I went to Google.co.in and checked to see what kind of results they got. It's not a full poof system, but if you take the time to examine the search results, you can get an idea of how many Indian companies or entities use the same initials/acronym.

There is no guarantee, but I think the future is bright, and plan to hold mine for a while.

I agree with -db- IMHO about .In extension future, domains there are good as long term investment, but weak for fast reselling.

And about LLL`s - Now they don`t worth much, as there is more available than taken ones, but when they will be valuable it will be really hard to get any of them not from reseller ;)

So take best of them if You belive, want to gamble and have money to keep and prolongate them in the future.

Agreed, new cctlds like .IN have strong fundamentals but will take a while to mature, but it seems like a lot of speculators are in this new namespace for a quick kill, or are trying to bail out while the sun still shines like a lot of .COM speculators.

ccTLDs are becoming increasingly recognized as an important variable in search engine algos.

.IN has nowhere to go but up.. I see it as one of the major ccTLD's in years to come.

It really depends what's in the .in!... I agree with all of the comments regarding the value of this TLD. India is a huge technology sector (obviously for outsourcing/support).

BTW ~ Where does everyone recommend to search for and register .in domains currently? Thanks!

Yes, cheapest .IN and best support from registrar, please...

That was a good investment I'd say. Nice sale! :)

This thread got me all excited about .in names so I just registered a few of them... I decided to have some fun with it and I picked all 3 letter names that could be used as a full word or as an acronym. I'm actually surprised some of these were still around. let me know what you all think!
