I registered 6 domains with Yahoo last year due to their cheap prices! BIG MISTAKE!! When I bought my very first domain with Yahoo, the fee reduced from my credit card was correct, then each following domain I paid, my credit card had been overcharged more than 30 times of $1, apart from the $2.99 domain fee.

I tried to talk to them over the phone, emails, they never really solved my problem!! Till 2 days ago, I noticed my credit card reduced 6 times of $1, I thought it may be Yahoo checking my credit. However, today when I checked my internet bank, $13 has disappeared?! WTF!! Except Paypal, I only have my credit information with Yahoo, what the f***ing wrong with YAHOO?!

Hope you get it sorted soon, good luck.

Thank you

O.K. I've read that it's difficult to transfer domains away with Yahoo. My question is : I still want my current domains, but would like to change a new registrar. Shall I wait till my domain expire, then trying to re-register them? Are there any more secure ways? I don't wanna lose my domains :(

Thank you Sin, as soon as I noticed this, I called my bank to block my current credit card ... I never thought a BIG company could do something so nasty like this!!

Go ahead and transfer your domains to a new registrar. I transferred 7 domains from Yahoo to Namecheap last year, and Namecheap is a reliable registrar. Expect about 5 days for the transfer to complete.

***Also, remember to CANCEL your domains/domain services at Yahoo once the transfer is complete, or you will keep getting charged by Yahoo.***

See my post here about my experience with Yahoo :(

Ouch, heard a lot of bad things about Yahoos registration service ... Hope you can get your money back.

If I were you I would start trying to move the domains away from them as soon as possible, judging by the experiences of others it can take quite a while to get anything done. Unless they are really bad names the chances are they will be grabbed by a drop service when they do expire, so it will be quite a risky way of doing it ... Really depends on how attached you are to the names.

Hope you get it all sorted.

All the best.

If you cannot get anywhere with them, realize that you can call your credit card company up and dispute the charges. You usually have 60 days to dispute a charge but with stuff that you basically rent for a year (like a domain) you have up to 6 months.

I had a very similar problem with RegisterFly. I had to dispute the charge and they ended up taking my domains from me even though I paid for them.

So I ended up having to dispute all charges (even the legit ones) that were not older than 6 months. I got much of my money back including all the interest that had accrued but I lost some great domains. That is why I do not recommend RegisterFly.

Good luck

PS: Use Namecheap.com!

Oh, and BTW, make sure you transfer out any domains you want before you dispute any charges.

If you held FatWomenGrowHair.com with yahoo, then let it drop. Otherwise transfer them away.

Remember yahoo.com is not domain registrar they make money by providing hosting services. They're Melbourne IT's reseller. So they're not very user friendly when comes to push and change of ownership unlike our Bob Parson.

I used to be a big time registrant with yahoo.com. Indeed i started with yahoo. Its not a big problem to deal with them,as long you're always slick.

OK let me give you some tips!

I know they offer extraordinary prices, but everything comes with a string.

Its not a big deal to transfer name out of yahoo. Just go to Godaddy then initiate the transfer. You'll get a conformation email which you have to approve. Then everything else goes smoothly. Within a week you have your names with godaddy.

After you transfer out your name, make sure you cancel the service with yahoo otherwise they'll continuously charge you for the renewal. Better off cancel your credit card.

I use to have more than 200 names with yahoo one time. Once i even got a call from my Bank regarding this enormous request from yahoo to charge on my card. (You can only purchase one name at a time, so when you register 50 names..your CreditCard company will have authorise 50 purchases in 30 mins...that's a bit dodgy isn't it)

I think now they don't allow you to register more than 2 names on a single account... (i'm not sure but i tried it couple of mths ago, it has been declined).

It was honeymoon yr then...

Not to worry having your names with them. The only problem is you can't push those names around like what you've been doing with GD.

2c

hope it helps

Moral of the story: stay away from Yahoo domains. Similar stories have been told by other NP members. Best of luck getting things sorted out. Your best bet may be to cancel your credit card and get a new one.

Ebooklover igves good advise. Namecheap is a better domain host. I believe it's best to stay far away from Yahoo.

Thank you so much to everyone :) We were on the phone with Yahoo, they were just pushing us around, from one to another. Seems no one there can really help ...

I don't think that Yahoo would ever get a chance to charge my card again, since I called my bank to cancel/block my credit card, and applied for a new one.

I will wait till I get my new credit card, then transfer them away.
