I wanted to change the name servers of one of my domains. I go to the support page where the domain has been hosted for the past 2 years and it sends me to network solutions. I can not log in however, so I call them. To my surprise...I am told that my domain is not hosted by them but by onlinenic.

I'm like...wtf? I then proceed to onlinenic...no luck there either. I have gotten 0 response....0. I have sent several emails to the place I registered the name...haven't heard back yet. I do see it is still registered to me, but why would my registrar send me to the Wrong place?

Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

Any advice on how to find out where and how to get my name servers changed?

Thanks

Well, if you cannot contact the company that is supposed to be hosting your name then I'd go back to Network Solutions. Explain the entire situation to them and see if they can help.

i have several domains, so when i buy a domain for example yahoo or netfirms, this sites give me access to a manage domain control panel.
and here u can change domain servers to ur own servers. yahoo is easy , netfirms not so easy. Also .be domains regitered at nucleus has same system.

change dns server would be easy.

Where did you register your name?

looks like they misunderstand you request,
usually temporary nameservers are given by default by the registrar
and associated to their server or the server where they are hosted.

I understand that he wanted to change the nameserver of one of his sites , to achieve that he must to log to a contol panel or ask someone to do it for him, that implies to know where the nameserver are and what's their names.

Hey he say it is a site, so he should be able to get the nameserver names and location just performing a query thought
http://www.dnsstuff.com/ .

Try to check there it may help
