I don't see it working well for most alternatives listed. It could work for a trade news, forum on DN but the discerning users of such a community would probably not be enthusiastic on name and in any case in my opinion NamePros serves us so well there is no need for alternative.
If it was to be used I like the Do + community idea either for social action, philanthropy or a makers community.

Political - Do Immunity
Health - Do immunity - for vaccinations
When I think about it the health connection could be worth something. The domaining connection is a lost cause, the first half of domainers already have the services they need and the second half will never pay for services because they are too cheap or think they can do it better.
So find a better use outside of domaining..... that is my opinion.
Maker Community is a nice idea. Tinkling with things is a trend I don’t see dying down soon.
Reluctantly Bob I disagree with you on this one. Alternatives and competition in any business is a good thing.I don't see it working well for most alternatives listed. That said, people here need to really think beyond “domaining”
One question for you: If you were looking to buy an online business which already makes money, what marketplaces/sites would you check first? In the business world one will usually sell a business at several times the yearly profit margin.
One thing this forum doesn’t serve is the “building” part. Building a site and flipping it is a valuable business. Snatching an expired domain and building it for SEO purpose also has value. At the moment, I am looking for information on hiring writers to build a site, and there isn’t much advices on how to do it properly. If someone would build a site for it, I am all for it.
I thanked your post and agree with the principle you express Laguna. Just to me NamePros does a pretty great job and we can make it even better. But yes, in same way I do wish Google, etc. had meaningful competition, almost always competition is good. Thanks for your post.Alternatives and competition in any business is a good thing
A Dog-related social network
Sounds like a fetish site where slaves would be sold by the title.
I also wouldn't start any business on this domain. It'll be costly to bring a traffic (I assume no organic traffic). Good luck tho.
