If you could own a top GEO domain but the dot com was owned and run by the official government, what variation would you consider second best?

Suppose France.com was owed by the French gov't, then what would be next on your list keeping as generic as possible in the dot com: GoFrance, iFrance, eFrance, vFrance, myFrance, FranceInfo, etc... :?

hmm, well i probably wouldn't stick to the .com, just because .info and .tv are moving quickly at the moment... but let's see

probably iFrance.com and FranceTravel.com would be up there

I think in the case of geos there is not a clear 'second best' - but then again I don't think there is in any sector - unless you can use a prefix/suffix to create a well known phrase, but these are often TMd - maybe try foreign language spellings or other tlds/cctlds

I think I have francevacance.something somewhere .. which is OK , certainly for french natives/francophiles

Try doing some wide tld scans at dynadot to see what 'other' people have regged. (i think you will find all the e- i- visit- etc versions long gone).

If i didn't find the one generic name i wanted i would search for the shortest next available name at .com

All travel,visit prefixes/suffixes they are targeted for travel/hotel industry so i don't think they're so generic

If you have something in mind for the development of this/these names maybe it wouldn't be so bad to target specific niches too
